FRIDAY, JULY 6, 1956 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, July 2, 1956, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock A.M. (CST). Mr. Wilson presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Deuker and Mr. Cecere. The following business was had, to-wits On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. Mr. R.G. Craft, 1807 South "G" Street appeared before the Board asking that something be done about the flooding of the area South of "E" and east of 16th. City Engineer Deuker said that the ditch would be dredged and opened for the flow of water. The Mayor instructed the City Engineer and Mr. Ed Ross to make a survey of the City and re- port the areas that need sewers. Mr. Ed Ross reported that the new pack-unit was in operation and by its use the pickup of trash was bing speeded up. He said there were 2023 trash bins in the City that re- quired shoveling to empty. Mr. Ross said that, for some reason, bins have been un- commonly full of tree and shrub cuttings and this made the collecting of trash very difficult, . Bill Adler, Parking Meter Maintenance man, reported that the 16 new meters for the Market House lot had arrived and would be ready for installation when the lot was completed. He was instructed by the Board to .install two (2) 15 minute meters on South 8th Street by the side of Hooks Drug Store. - City Attorney Cecere moved and City Engineer Deuker seconded a motion to lease for $1.00 to the Sesquicentennial Committee the Garfield School lot for use during the Sesquicentennial in August. City Engineer Deuker moved that a letter be written to the Ish Brewer Pure Oil Station at 25 Richmond Avenue instructing them to clean the dirt off of Randolph Street and to remove the cars parked on City property. City Attorney Cecere seconded. City Attorney Cecere to write the letter. III City Engineer Deuker reported plans were complete to install a storm sewer from South "E" Street to the ditch South of South "G" Street, but that additional easements would have to be secured before work could be started. The letter from Councilwoman Hoskins was turned over to Police Chief Mitrione for in- vestigation and action.
