HomeMy Public PortalAbout05-25-1956 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS • AND SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA. FRIDAY, MAY 25, 1956. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, May 25, 1956, at the hour_ of 8:00 o'clock A.M. (CST). Mr. Wilson presiding with the following members being pre- sent: llr. Deuker and Mr. Cecere. The following business was .had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried,the minutes of the previous meeting were dis- pensed with. City Attorney Cecere moved and City Engineer Deuker seconded that Improvement Resolution • No. 1004-1956 be taken under advisement after hearing property owners who spoke in favor of said improvement and those who remonstrated. • City Engineer Druker moved and City Controller Wilson seconded that four (4) fire hydrants be installed on South 15th and.South 16th Streets south of "L" subject to the approval of the Richmond Water Works. Frank Ries of the Leach Pack Master Company appeared before the Board and explained the use of the new equipment purchased by the Sanitary District. City Engineer Deuker moved and City Attorney Cecere seconded that the City buy a Pack Master container for $130.00. Fire Chief-Williams reported he had heard from Fredrick G. Crump regarding a hazardious building on Lot 20 of the A. Mormans Second Addition. Mr. Crump advised the Fire Chief that the building will be torn down in the near future. . City Engineer Deuker moved and City Controller Wilson seconded that the following curb cuts be allowed: 1213, 1217 and 1221 South I Street. Police Chief Mitrione said the traffic at N.W. 13th and Peacock Road was becoming con- jested due to the construction of the Little League Ball park and that his department would make a survey and recommendation for the control of the traffic. he suggested that perhaps a 4-way stop be made a this intersection. The Board unanimously approved the Re-Plat of the riarvey Place Sub-Division. • The Clerk was instructed to write the Spur Distributing Company at 14th and National Road West regarding-signs along the road. • Ill Mayor Cutter read the following telegram to the Board: "Your City was today awarded a certificate of achievement for accident records in the 1955 traffic safety award program. Our Heartiest congratu- lations to you and your citizens." G.C. Stewart, Executive Vice President , National Safety Council Claims in the amount of $19,620.42 were allowed.
