FRIDAY, MAY 11, 1956 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, .met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, Nag 11, 1956, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock A.M. (CST) . Mr. Wilson presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Deuker and Mr. Cecere. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. The Clerk presented proofs of publication printed in the Richmond Pallaium on the dates of April 23 and April 30, 1956, 'that bids would be received on this date for razing the Market House. The proofs were ordered filed. The following bids were received, opened and read aloud: Campbell Brothers Construction Co. T'495.00 Charles Harman 350.00 Robinson Brothers 34.5.00 City Engineer Deuker moved that the bids be taken under advisement, seconded by City Controller Wilson. The Board instructed Asst. Police Chief Conyers to check complaint presented at Council meeting on May 7th regarding the late at night noisy traffic at Ridge and N.W. "J" Street. Councilman Thomas presented complaint of late parking in the circle drive on N.W. 19th Street. Asst. Police Chief Conyers to investigate. Mayor Cutter presented request of the Noon Optimist Club for permission to hold the Opti-Derby on July 22, 1956 on North "E" Street. City 'ttorney Cecere moved and City Controller Wilson seconded that their request be granted. City Engineer Deuker presented a petition for curb cut on South 10th Street at the site of the_ new Leland Parking Lot. City Engineer Deuker moved, and City Controller Wilson seconded. Bill Adler was instructed to remove two parking meters from this site. The Clerk presented proofs of publication printed in the Richmond Palladium on the dates of April 19 and April 26, 1956, that a public hearing would be held on this date on Improvement Resolution No. 1003-1956. The proofs were ordered filed. The following property owners were heard: Henry Horn, 2309 North E; Fred Klotz, 2303 North F Street; William Engelbert, 2301 North E and Robert Allen, representing Jehiel T.T. &: Clara Siebert Norris, property owners at 'North 23rd and D Street. City Attorney Cecere moved that Improvement Resolution No. 1003-1956 be taken under advisement and new publicaL' tion and advertisement be prepared with new description. City Engineer Deuker seconded. . (Action in Court to vacate part of alley included in 1003-1956). The Clerk presented proofs of publication printed in the Richmond Palladium that a public _hearing would be held on this date on Declaratory Resolution No. 8-1956 (vacate portion of alley near Market House). The proofs were ordered filed. City Attorney Cecer moved that Declaratory Resolution No. 8-1956 be adopted with modifi- cation of the right of the M.E.L. P.P. to maintain electric conduit lines in said portion of said alley to be vacated. City Engineer Deuker seconded this motion. No remonstrances were filed regarding closing this alley by the Market house. The Clerk read a letter from Don Sliger, Building Inspector, regarding overhead conveyor across N.W. "K_" Street at the Lehr Equipment Sales, Inc. , also buildings and a damaged electrical conduit at same site. City Engineer Deuker to investigate and report to the Board. Joe Cloud, Manager of the Rex Hotel asked permission to park a new Trailways bus in front of the Hotel at Trailways bus stop from 12 noon to 4-.00 P.M: on Tuesday, May 15th. City Attorney Cecere moved permission be granted, seconded by City Controller Wilson. The Clerk was instructed to write Homer Henry, Tarum Shrine Club, regarding the litter - and trash left by the circus on the grounds north of the Armory. Bill Adler showed new 15 minute parking meters. He was instructed to install 4 such meters on North 8th Street at the side of the new Second National Bank Building. Ed Ross reported most of the sewers on East Main Street had been cleaned, a pond south of Fast Main had been drained and a new curb was being built. He reported. the State was 210 cooperating with this work. (This in regard to the wash condition at the culvert opposite the entrance to Glen Miller Park).
