OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 1956
The Board of Public-Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular
session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, February 17, 1956, at
the hour of 8:00 o'clock A.M. (CST). Mr.- Wilson presiding with' the following members
being present: Mr. Deuker and Mr. Cecere. The following business was had, to-wit:
On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were
dispensed with. •
_City Controller Wilson reported that the Light Plant-had a traffic light available
for installation -at National Road West and Southwest 16th Street. The Board unanimously
approved the installation of this light. •
City Controller Wilson said he had received a complaint regarding the entrance to
an alley on North "C" Street between North 7th and North 8th Streets. Mr. Voyles
said that the location of a Utility Pole prevents trucks from entering this alley.
City Engineer.Deuker was instructed to see if this Utility Pole could be relocated.
• City Engineer Deuker reported that the Light Plant is going ahead with the installation
of street lights in the Parkway Hills Addition and that said signs have been ordered
for this addition.
City Controller Wilson *reported that the light to be placed at the entrance of City
. Hall has been ordered and would be installed.
Councilman Salzaru_lo read a letter to the Board regarding a break in the sewer be-
tween 2315 and 2319 New Paris Pike. The letter was turned over to Ed Ross of the .
City Sanitary District for action. •
A representative from the Richmond Home Telephone Company appeared before the Board
and requested that protection be given the underground telephone cable which is
located under the alley to be vacated between North "C" and North ."D" Street at
• , the location of the new Starr School. He was advised to contact the. School Board
IIIregarding this cable. . .
The Clerk presented proof of publication printed in the Richmond Palladium-Item,
a newspaper of general circulation on the dates of January 27 and February 3, 1956,
that a hearing would be held on this date for Declaratory Resolution No. 1-1956.
The proofs were ordered filed.
There being no remonstrance presented or filed City Engineer Deuker moved and City
Attorney Cecere seconded that Declaratory Resolution No. 1-1956 be confirmed as
adopted.
The Board unanimously concurred with Fire Chief Williams on the suspension of Fireman
Robert VanMeter. Final action on this to be taken when the case is disposed of in
• Court.

Members of the Berry Field Civil Improvement Association, Inc. along with Attorney
J.Brandon Griffis,Jr., appeared before the Board and expressed their desire for
action regarding the installation of sewers in Berry Field. The Board took this
reyest under advisement.
The request of.the Tarum Shrine Club of Richmond to hold a circus on May 10, 1956
for benefit of cripple children was referred to the Park Board.
. The Board unanimously approved the bid of the Kurdy Chevrolet Company for a new
car for the Weight & Measurer Inspector.
Claims.in the amount of $10,824.93 were allowed.
There being no further business presented. on motion duly made, seconded and carried,
