HomeMy Public PortalAbout01-20-1956 174 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA FRIDAY, JANUARY 20, 1956 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of 'Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, January 20, 1956, at the hour of 8: 00 o' clock A.M. ( CST) . Mr. Wilson presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Deuker and Mr. Cecere. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. Bill Adler, Parking Meter Maintenance Man, reported on reflectors for _ the lights on the North 10th Street Parking Lot. He presented an II estimate of the reflectors from the Hoff Sheet Metal Company. Mr. Wilson will check on ready made reflectors and/or secure estimates from other companies for the cost of reflectors. Bill Adler also stated that meters have been removed from the parking lot across the street from the City Building and will be available for use elsewhwere. The Board approved a request received from the .Junibr Chamber of Commerce for permission to reserve four (4) parking spaces in front of Wheeler' s Restaurant, 716 Main Street, for the March of Dimes on January 21, 1956. Mr. Deuker was instructed by the Board to contact the M.E. L. & P.P. re- garding the installation of an ornimental street light on the east side of North 5th Street immediately south of the entrance to City Hall. A petition requesting fire protection for all of Oakland Place Second Addition located on South 16th Street between "G" and "H" including lots 1 to 30, was received by the Board and referred to Fire Chief Leslie Williams for his recommendations. The Clerk presented proofs of publication printed in the Richmond Pal- ladium-Item on the dates of December 28, 1955 and January 4, 1956 that a public hearing would be held on this date for Assessment Roll No. 980- 1954. The proofs were ordered received and filed. There being no remonstrance received or presented the Board unanimously confirmed Assessment Roll No. 980-1954 as adopted. A petition from the School City of Richmond signed by Paul C. Garrison, Supt. of Schools, to vacate North "D" Street from North 19th to North 20th and the alley from North "C" between North 19th Street to a point 4.4 feet north to the north line of North "D" Street was received by the • Board. City Engineer Deuker presented Declaratory Resolution No _ 1-1956 for the above petition. It was unanimously approved that Declaratory Resolution be adopted as amended. Mr. Don Bell, Insurance Agent, appeared before the Board and explained the insurance coverage of the City Building to members of the Board. Mr. David Hoover presented to the Board a petition against play grounds being established in the South 10th Street Park. His petition was ordered referred to the Park Commissioner Don McBride. The Clerk told the Board he had received a complaint regarding the condi- tion of the sidewalks on Northwest llth Street between Main Street and Peacock Road. He was instructed to report this condition to Charles Darr, Street Commissioner. Claimes in the amount of $11,401.38 were allowed.
