FRIDAY, JANUARY 6, 1956 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, January 6, 1956, at the hour of 8:00 o' clock A.M. ( CST) . Mr. Wilson, Mr. Deuker and Mr. Cecere being present. The following business was had, to-wit: Mr. William E. Wilson was elected Chairman of the Board of Works by unanimous vote. Mayor Cutter presented his appointment of David. 0. Keyser, City Clerk, to be Clerk of the Board of Works per salary , shown .in the 1956 Budget. The minutes of the meeting held. Friday, December 30, 1955 were approved as read. The Clerk presented proofs of publication printed in the Richmond Palladium-Item a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Rich- mond, Indiana, that a Public hearing would be held on this date on Improvement Resolution No. 1002-1955. The proofs were ordered filed. A remonstrance was filed by property owners who would be affected by said Improvement Resolution. Upon a check of the names on the petition and remonstrance it was found that there were 14 remonstrators and. 18 petitioners. The Board voted unanimously to confirm this Resolution. The Clerk was authorized to prepare advertising to receive bids on January 27, 1956. Mr. Deuker reported that he and Fire Chief Williams have approved the water lines for fire protection in the Harvey Addition and the Ellen Manor Addition as requested December 30, 1955. The Quarterly report of the Animal Welfare League was accepted by the Board of Works and ordered filed. Police Chief Mitrione remarked about parking conditions for police cars. The Board moved that a survey be made by the Board of the number of city owned cars and that recommendations be made for parking them. The Clerk presented the following complaint from Councilman Marino: The condition of the sidewalk at South 8th and "A" at the new filling station. Mr. Deuker stated that construction of the ramps to the filling station followed specifications and that he would report to Councilman Marino his findings. Fire Chief Williams and W.E. Ross, Supt. of the Sanitary District, re- ported oil is being spilled during refueling operations at the Pennsyl- vania Railroad and that a fire hazard is being created there and a bad situation at the Sewage Disposal Plant was being created by this oil. Mr. Deuker told Mr. Williams and Mr. Ross to contact J.M. Kirschner, District Engineer of the Pennsylvania Railroad to see if this condi- tion could be corrected. A report is to be made to the Board regard- ing the Railroad action. The Board approved W.E. Ross to go ahead with the interceptor work under the main street bridge. The Board approved the 1956 maintenance contract of the Ad-O-Lite Neon Service for maintenance of "Walk" and "Don' t Walk" lights. Claims in the amount of $27,390. 28 were approved.
