OFFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
AND SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA.
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 23, 1955
The Board. of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
met in regular' session in its office in the City Hall in said City,
Friday, December 23, 1955, at the hour of 8: 00 o' clock A.M. (CST) . Mr.
Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. iJeuker
and Mr. Haworth. The following business was had, to-wit:
On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous
meeting were dispensed with.
Mr. Coleman presented and read in full the following letter:

To the Board of Public Works and Safety:
Gentlemen:
Please be advised that as of 12 o' clock noon, Dec. 31,
1955, I am demeting Lucas J. Rohe from chief of -police to
regular patrolman.
This action is in conformity with an understanding at
the time of the appointment of Mr. Rohe as police chief at
the time I took office as mayor for a second time four years
ago.
May I request that you make this demotion as matter of
official record.
At the same time it is my request that ' you also make a
matter of official record, the appointment of Mr. Rohe as
acting chief of police for the period from noon, Dec. 31,
until 12 o' clock noon, Jan. 1, 1956, or until his succesor
II has been duly appointed and qualified.
These actions are taken in order to clarify the record
of Mr. Rohe as to pension rights.
Please make proper entry in the records of the board of
public works and safety covering these actions.

On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the above letter was made a
record of this meeting.
The Board approved the installation of 2-4000 Lumen Pendant street
lights on North 4th Street between "A" and "D" Streets, and ordered
the same installed.
The Board unanimously adopted Assessment Roll No. 980-1954 for concrete
curb, gutter and sidewalk on both sides of South 5th Street from South
"N" to South "A" Street,
Claims in the amount of .¶34,843. 69 were allowed.
IIThere being no further business presented on motion duly made, seconded
and carried, the meeting adjourned.
