SUBJECT: PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION ACTIONS — MEETING OF
FEBRUARY 20, 2013
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Council is requested to receive and file the Parks and Recreation Commission
actions from their meeting of February 20, 2013.
BACKGROUND:
On February 20, 2013, the Parks and Recreation Commission held their regularly
scheduled meeting.
ANALYSIS:
Following is a summary of actions taken at the February 20, 2013 Parks and Recreation
Commission meeting:
1. ROLL CALL:
Present: Commissioner Arrighi, Georgino, Haddad, Wong, Chairman Fish
Absent: None
2. SELECTION OF VICE-CHAIRMAN FOR FISCAL YEAR (FY) 2012-13
Commissioner Georgino was elected Vice -Chairman for FY 2012-13.
3. CONSENT CALENDAR
The Parks and Recreation Commission approved the minutes from their Regular
Meeting of December 19, 2012, and received and filed the monthly reports for
December 2012 and January 2013.

4. UNFINISHED BUSINESS — None
5. NEW BUSINESS
A. REVIEW OF TRANSPORTATION SERVICES AVAILABLE TO TEMPLE
CITY RESIDENTS
The Commission received information and public input on the Dial -A -Ride
and other transportation programs offered by the City. The Commission
requested staff look into the possibility of scheduling an additional vehicle
on Sunday mornings to accommodate those members wishing to attend
Sunday services. The Commission also recommended the CVS "Minute
Clinic" on Baldwin and Naomi in Arcadia be included as an approved
location. Staff will research these items further and present a report back
to the Commission.
The Commission re-established the Transportation Ad Hoc Committee,
appointing Commissioners Wong and Haddad, to assist staff with the
Fixed Route Transportation Needs Assessment and Planning Study.
B. REQUEST FROM THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY'S RELAY FOR
LIFE OF TEMPLE CITY FOR CONSIDERATION OF A FEE WAIVER
FOR RESERVED USE OF LIVE OAK 1, 2, AND 3 AT THE LIVE OAK
PARK COMMUNITY CENTER FOR A ZUMBA FUNDRAISER ON
MARCH 2, 2013
The Commission approved the request for a fee waiver.
C. UPDATE ON PARKS AND OPEN SPACE MASTER PLAN
The Commission received an update on progress to date for the Parks
and Open Space Master Plan. Public meetings are scheduled for March
26 at Longden's Memoli Hall, and March 27 at Live Oak Park. The
Commission re-established the Parks and Open Space Ad Hoc
Committee appointing Chairman Fish and Vice -Chairman Georgino to
serve on the Committee. The Ad Hoc members will represent the
Commission on the Parks and Open Space Master Plan Advisory
Committee.
6. MATTERS FROM CITY OFFICIALS
A. The Commission received and filed the Parks and Recreation Director's
Report for February 2013.

The City Council is requested to receive and file this report.

This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2012-13 City Budget.
