HomeMy Public PortalAbout09-23-1955 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA. FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 1955 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, September 23, 1955, at the hour of 8:00 o' clock A.M. (CST) . Mr. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Deuker and Mr. Chambers. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. The Clerk presented proofs of publication printed in the Palladium-Item a newspaper on the dates of August 30 and September 6, 1955, that a public hearing would be held on Improvement Resolution No. 1000-1955 (Curb, gutter and sidewalk both sides of- Harris Street from N.W. "J" to N.W. "K" Street) . The proofs were ordered filed. A remonstrance was presented signed by eleven (11) residents. No action was taken on said Improvement Resolution which was referred to the City Engineer to check the remonstrators and petitioners. On recommendation of the Fire Chief the Board approved the Clerk of preparing publication for bids to be received for a new boiler to be installed at No. 4 Hose House. The Clerk was authorized to write to the F & N Lawn Mower Company re- questing them to repair the switch track that goes over Washington Avenue. A letter was received from the Wayne County Civil Defense requesting permission to place the Ground Observation Post that was originally on top of the YMCA Building to a site outside of the fence -of the Police Radio Station located on West Main Street. The Board agreed to permit the Observation Post of being located at this site and. connect the electric lights to the Police Radio Station meter. A petition for a traffic signal installation at North 15th and "A" Streets as presented by Councilman Salzarulo was referred to Capt. Juerling and the City Engineer to study and recommend. The Board allowed the following curb cuts: - North 15th & "A" Street for driveway into trash pit. 2110 South "A" Street for d riveway. Claims in the amount of S29, 971.34 were allowed.
