HomeMy Public PortalAbout20131210ExhibitA.pdfr Parking on Tybee Island A problem since the first bridge opened in late 1920's Very few open areas left to add parking, some are: Restripe Butler remove excess yellow lines curb cuts Meter in front of City Hall for weekend parking Remove preferred parking spaces in Lot one [7] People want to be close to either Southend or the North Beach, leaving the mid Island less used and 1st street almost empty. How to change this habit Two ways other cities have done this; Tiered parking and higher rates on high demand days. Change parking rates from all areas South End south of 141' $2.50 per hour on weekend/ holiday $1.50 weekdays All day $20.00 weekend $12.00 weekdays North End Parking $2.00 per hour on weekend/ holiday $1.50 weekdays all day $15.00 weekend $12.00 weekdays Mid Island, Alley three, fishing pier parking, police lot $1.50 per hour on weekend/ holiday $1.00 weekdays all day $12.00 weekend $6.00 weekdays Use the extra income from the South end parking since people will still fill this area to contact out Trolley (CN G)for weekend and Holiday. This service would pick up and drop off those parking in mid -island. Basic premises Income farm the increase in rates for the Southend should be between $125,000 to $175,00.00 Cost of Trolley service estimated at $80,000.00 - $100,000. $700 -900/ day per trolley. Estimate 2-3 trollies per day times 40 days (100 trolley days) Why lower price for all day? : People are only going to stay for an average of 6 hours. So all day ticket solves several issues. It will increase revenue since more cars will buy allday ticket to avoid chance of overtime ticket. Trolley service will help all business by making it easier to move around the Island. Decreasing City is leaving it self open to liability by allowing cars to park in unsafe manners such as within20 feet of a stop sign, entrance to drives, blocking the road. New P&D Meters may have to be bought. F&D Meters spacing needs to be review. Some blocks have up 5 for less than 25 spaces. Tickets in Mid Island ticket would be different color and not used in other areas. Why not make more marked spaces? First we are running out of space in key areas. Marked space in overflow parking areas means less cars since the space is based on 18-20 lengths. Estimate 20% more space What can new meters do Greater variables for the city and the public Better reporting to City http://www. arkeon,us a in a -stations-strada- - tation- arkin - rneter.html http://www.globalparkingsolutions.com/case- studies/%2 0%2 OWest% 2 0 Palm% 20 Beach,%20Florida -'> ink to ink ink t". ink W P-" I-3 !', ' ih t/s {h L!k iJi I-, N I-3 0 -ob .4lb LFI; Q0 W JS U'1 35 N W 1.n (D Ln ° O LO Cts 0 I -s 4:b O w V w O 'C p W 5J7 V p 90 LD N W P. 00 9 y M LM W W w Ln P --b 13 w i3 Ln w In 0 0 Ln .
