FRIDAY, AUGUST 5, 1955 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, August 5, 1955, at the hour of 8:00 o' clock A.M. (CST) . Mr. Coleman presiding with the following member being present: Mr. Chambers. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. Mayor Meadows reported to the Board that he had appointed Mr. Ben Deuker as Acting City Engineer. The Board received the following request: For installation of adequate water mains to serve as fire protection for all of 18th Street Place, Lot Nos. 51 to 69 in the Oakland. Place Sub-Division as requested by the Brantner-Robbins, Inc. The Fire Chief and. Ben Deuker were ordered to investigate this request and report back to the Board. A letter was received from the Optimist Club extending their thanks for the co-operation extended by the various departments of the City in making their 7th Annual Opti-Derby a success. On recommendation of the Chief of Police the Board awarded the bid for two (2) police cars to Dea Meadows Ford Sales for a total sum of $1691+.Oo. The Clerk presented proofs of publication printed in the Richmond Palladium-Item, a newspaper on the dates of July 11 and 18, 1955, that bids would be received to do the work as .provided for in Improvement Resolution No. 997-1955 (Construction of concrete curb and gutter on both sides of Ross Street from N.W. "Hn Streets to Vine Street) . The proofs were ordered filed. One bid was received, opened and read aloud: Frank J. Robinson $1,459. 20 City Engineer estimate 1,520.00 The above bid was referred to the Acting City Engineer to check and recommend. The Board approved the Mayor' s request to close the City Hall offices during the months of August and September at the hour of 4: 00 P.M. The Board adopted Assessment Roll Nos. 988-1954 and 994-1955 and in- strutted the Clerk to prepare the proper advertising for a public hearing. The Clerk was instructed to prepare the proper advertising to receive bids for 56 parking meters which 40 will be needed on the North 10th Street Parking Lot and 16 on the North 5th Street Parking Lot. The meters are to be of corrosion resisting material accumulative 10 hour to take multiple 5 or 10 cent coins. Claims in the amount of $6, 560. 16 were allowed.
