FRIDAY, JULY 29, 1955 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, July 29, 1955, at the hour of 8:00 o' clock A.M. (CST) . Mr. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin and Mr. Chambers. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. The proofs of publications printed in the Richmond Palladium-Item, a newspaper on the dates of July 5-12, 1955, that sealed bids would be received on this date for two ( 2) new Police cars were ordered filed. The following bids were received for the razing of the Crawford Home, 23 North 10th Street: Campbell Bros. $600.00 and the used material Charles H. Harman, Sr. $625. 00 On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the bid of the Campbell Bros. was accepted. Mr. Webster L. Denning, 1624 National Road West, filed a complaint of paper and trash littering the area of West 16th and National Road, cause being from the Dairy Queen. This was referred to the City Attorney. • The following petition was filed: July 26, 1955 The following residents object against the erection of a storage tank for liquefied petroleum which Mr. Peele plans to build on lot 18 Knollenbert and Kemper addition. We feel that it would be a great danger to the whole neighbor- hood and ask the . Board of Works of the City of Richmond to prevent the above mentioned construction. The Fire Chief advised the board that Mr. James Peele, owner of the property was not intending to place a bulk plant at this location and had given a written statement to the State Fire Marshall that he was not intending to place a bulk plant at said location. The State Highway Department of Indiana sent copies of an agreement concerning the modernization of traffic signals at the intersection of Northwest 5th Street and U.S. #40, U.S. #35 (West Main Street) . The board signed the agreements. The Fire Chief requested the Purchase of a 800 gallon tank truck as per specifications presented. The Clerk was authorized by the board to prepare the proper advertising to receive the same. The board approved the dredging of the open ditch from South "L" Street to South 19th Street. On recommendation of the Chief of Police the board approved the members of the Police Dept. to be allowed to wear short sleeved shirts and no ties for summer dress. The board approved the City Attorney of preparing. a resolution for Mr. S.W. Hodgin, who is retiring as City Engineer. The board approved the following curb cuts: - Lot '81-C.W, Stairs Add. S.E. corner of No. 7th & A Street ( on A. Street) for used car lot as requested by Kurdy' s Chev. Co. , Inc. 819 ,So. . 12th Street for a driveway as requested by Clem Brandenburg 1850 West Main Street as requested by Earl Shaver. Claims in the amount of , ,535. 83 were allowed. There being no further business presented on motion duly made, seconded and carried, the meeting adjourned. ( Chairman Attest: City erk
