FRIDAY, JULY 22, 1955 The Board of Public Works Rrd Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said , City-a_ Friday, July 22, 1955, at the hour of 8:00 o a clock Al®PI. (CST) . Mr.` Coleman presiding with thQ following member being present: Mr. Hodgin. Mr. Chambers being absent:' The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with.II Elmer Rogers, owner of the Rogers Pest Control located on Rich- mond Avenue was given permission to cut the curb for a driveway in- to the parking lot located east of the Rogers Pest Control Building.' Permission was granted to the Moore-Irvin Post of the American Legion to stage a parade September 5, 1955 which is to celebrate their 25th Anniversary.' Several residents living on South 19th Street appeared personally before the Board and complained about the dust that is being created by the new development on South 19th Street south of "G" Street. The Board assured these people that every step would be taken to eliminate this dust. Mr. Coleman advised the Board that the Animal Welfare League would co-operate in the future during the day time in picking up stray dogs that have been reported to the City Officials. On recommendation of Capt. Juerling permission was given to paint the curb in front of the International Harvester Company on North 15th Street yellow for three 0) cars to park. The following correspondence was received from the William H. Turner Realty Corporation: July 21, 1955 Board of Works Richmond, Indiana Gentlemen: This request for repairs to the sidewalk in front of 931 Main Street (Davis Shoes) is submitted for your consideration. There are holes in the sidewalk in front of this property. We have had reports from the manager of Davis Shoes, that several people have fallen due to the condition of the side- walk. We would appreciate your consideration of this badly needed repair in order to eliminate this hazard to the pedestrians. Very truly, WILLIAM H. TURNER REALTY CORP ; /s/ Norman.B. Jenkins NORMAN B. The following correspondence was received:: 28 Board of Works Richmond, Indiana Gentlemen: 0 We the undersigned are appealing to you for relief from the street and unnecessary noise created by racing motocycle, old cars without proper mufflers, causing black and brown dog • to bark day and night, causing many sleepless nights. This occurs at the Phillips filling station at 1215 N.W. 5th St., Richmond, Ind'. W We will appreciate your effort in whatever you can do to stop this nuisance and offensiveness which is injurious to health. They also are living in a trailor which is in violation of City Ordinances'.' Signed by 10 Residents.' This was referred to Mr. Claude Bozarth, Sanitary Inspector. A curb cut at 905 North 13th Street for driveway was allowed by the Boar.' The Board recommended that the City place a: bid for the purchase of the Garfield School located at South 12th and "A" Street in a manner to trade the balance due on the Civic Auditorium from the School City to the City of Richmond, Indiana. Mayor Lester E. Meadows reported that he was going to Indianapolis next week and confer with the State Board of Accounts to see if this would be legal. Claims in the amount of 30,588.42 were allowed.
