The Board of Public Works and Safety of .the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, July 8, 1955, at the hour of 8:00 o 'clock A.M. (CST) . Mr. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin and Mr. Chambers. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. The Clerk presented prrofs of publication printed in the Richmond Palladium-Item, on June 13-20, 1955, that a pubic hearing would be held on this date for Improvement Resolution No. 997-1955 to construct curb and gutter on both sides of Ross Street from N.W. "H" to Vine Street. The proofs were ordered filed. After hearing all persons present who were interested and no remon- strance being filed the Board now unanimously confirms Improvement Reso- lution No. 997-1955 as adopted. On recommendation of the City Engineer no action was taken on Improve- ment Resolution No. 998-1955. There were several property owners pre- sent who desired to remonstrate against the construction of the alley set-out in said Improvement Resolution. Councilman Salzarulo appeared before the Board and stressed the need of a sewer inlet be installed at the intersection of North 19th and "J" Street. This was referred to the City Engineer for his investi- gation. Mr. Salzarulo also asked that North 17th Street north of "J" be oiled or chlorided to subdue the dust. This was referred to the Street Commissioner. The Board approved the traffic light at North 12th and "G" Street to be turned on 24 hours a day. A contract for grading and landscapting the premises of No. 5 Fire Station was signed and Mr. Vernon Morgan is the contractor to do the work. Claims in the amount of $10, 624.66 were allowed.
