The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City;
Friday, July 1, 1955, at the hour of 8:00 o' clock A.M. (CST) . Mr.
Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin
and Mr. Chambers. The following business was had, to-wit:
On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous
meeting were dispensed with.
The following letter was received from the State Highway Department
of Indiana:
June 27, 1955
Re: Traffic Signal In-
Mr. Ather J. Reeg stallation US 40

City of Richmond Southwest 1st Street
Richmond, Indiana Richmond
Dear Sir:
Reference is made to your letter of June 3, 1955 per-
taining to the above subject and addressed to Mr. H.G. Groves,
State Highway Department. This letter has been referred to
me, as Engineer of Traffic Signals, for reply.
Please be advised that plans and material lists for
this installation are complete and have been mailed to Mayor
Meadows. It is anticipated that materials will be delivered
this week for this project.

The Board authorized the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant
to install the above traffic signals as per plans and specifications
set out by the State Highway Department.
Street Commissioner, William Burelison; reported that the streets and
alley materials account in the 195 Budget needed $10,000.00 for
future work to be done. Mr. Coleman, City Controller, stated that
this amount could be transferred from the Unappropriated balance of
the Street Department. The Clerk was instructed to prepare an Ordin-
ance for the above transfer to be presented to Common Council for their
consideration.
A petition was received for the construction of a Sanitary Sewer to
serve the property abutting on South llth Street from South "N" to
South "0" Streets. This was referred to the City Engineer.
The Chief of Police requested that he be authorized to purchase two (2)
new cruisers for the Police Department. The Board unanimously approved
this request and instructed the Clerk to prepare the Resolution to
trade-in two (2) used cruisers for Common Council' s consideration.
Fire Chief Williams reported that he had issued an order to either

repair or tear down the warehouse located on South 3rd Street between
"B" and "C" Streets.
Mr. Hodgin, City Engineer, reported that Ben Teetor had made request
for a permit to extend a Sanitary Sewer on Commons Road to serve the
property that he now ownes and will be annexted in the very near
future. This installation to be made by said Ben Teetor at his
expense.

Claims in the amount of $6,805.42 were allowed.
There being no further business presented on motion duly. made, se-
conded and carried, the meeting adjourned.
