OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
AND SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA.
FRIDAY, MAY 6, 1955
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City,
Friday, May 6, 1955 , at the hour of 8: 00 o' clock A.M. (CST) . Mr.
Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin
and Mr. Chambers. The following business was had, to-wit:
On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous
meeting were dispensed with.
The City Engineer presented plans and specifications to install a
storm sewer in the BrookfeldfAd.dition. The entire costs was estimated
II at $9,000. 00 to complete the job from the Commons Road to the corpora-
tion limits. The Board approved the installation to be started
immediately.
The Street Commissioner advised the Board that the Special Streets
budget needed $3,000.00 to 'be added to the Rental of Equipment to
proceed with the above job and other such projects that are to be
Started this year. The Board approved the City Clerk of preparing
an Ordinance to be presented to the Common Council to transfer the
sum of $3, 000. 00 from Un-appropriated Funds to that of the Rental
of Equipment.
On recommendation of the Fire Chief the Board approved the installation
of an_ 8 inch water main to be extended on South "I" Street, east from
South 16th Street to the intersection of South 19th and "I" Streets,
and the installation of fire hydrants at the intersections of South
16th, 18th and 19th Streets and "I" Street. The extension of an 8 inch
water main on South "J" Street, east from South 16th and "J" Street
to the intersection of South 19th and "J" Streets and install fire
hydrants at the intersections of South 16th, 18th and 19th and "J"
Streets. All of this installation to serve as fire protection in
this area.
On recommendation of Capt. Juerling the Board approved the removal
of two parking meters on the southeast corners of North 6th and "A"
Streets and North 7th and "A" Streets to permit the traffic to move
in faster manner.
The Board allowed the following curb cut:Southeast corner of South "L"
and South 8th Street (East drive) for driveway.
Claims in the amount of $16,522. 01 were allowed.
There being no further business presented on motion duly made, seconded
and carried, the meeting adjourned.
