AND SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA.
FRIDAY, APRIL 29, 1955.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City,
Friday, April 29, 1955, at the hour of 8:00 o ' clock A.M. ( CST) . Mr.
Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgi•n
and Mr. Chambers. The following business was had, to-wit:
On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous
meeting were dispensed with,
I The Board granted permission to the Armed Services to stage a parade
May 5, 1955 which is Armed Services Day. The Clerk to notify the State
Highway Department of this action.
The Board granted permission to Dan Mitrione to attend the National
Safety Patrol Convention May 6th and 7th to be held in Washington, D.C.
The City Light Plant requested permission to remove a street light
located at North .17th and ""G" Street. This was requested due to this
area being vacated. The Board granted permission for removal of said
street light.
A petition was received from the Modern Developments, Inc, requesting
the installation of a street lights in the Second Half of Travers
Park Terrace Division. This was referred to the Light Plant Committee
for their study and recommendations.
The following correspondence was received from the State Highway
Commission and made a record of in the minutes: .
RESOLUTION
BE IT RESOLVED, that the following city streets in the
City of Richmond be taken into and made a part of the State
Highway System for Maintenance, Construction and Reconstruction,
which highway has been assigned the following Number and Sect-
ion, and is more particularly described as follows:
State Road No, 27, Section CC: South A Street from South 5th
Street or present 27, east on
South A Street to South 9th
Street which is present Road
227. From there Road 27 will
follow Road 227 or North 9th
Street North to its present
route. This will be used for
north bound traffic,
Also North A Street from North
9th Street which is new Road
227, west to North 5th Street
and Fort Wayne Avenue. From
there 27 will follow North 5th
Street South over its present
route. This will be used for
south bound traffic.
State Road No. 227, Section BB: North 9th Street from Main
Street to the Intersection of
North 10th Street at about
II North H Street about three
blocks North of the Pennsylvania
Railroad overpass. It is under-
stood that that part of the
Section just described from the •
South end of Project UGM02(1) ,
Bridge Contract 3507 north to
the end of said Projec.t at Station
35+40 will not be taken over for
maintenance until said Bridge j
Contract is accepted and turned
over to the Maintenance Department.

Be it further resolved that
Fort Wayne Avenue, which is a
part of present Road. 27-CC be
abandoned-, from North.A Street
North and East to the Inter-
section of North 10th Street
MS thence North on North 10th
Street at about North H Street
which is the north end of the
new location for the Pennsylvania
Railroad overpass,
The above change- is made necessary because of the completion
of the new Pennsylvania Railroad Overpass on North 9th Street,
which is present Road 227.

Mr. Harvey Ramsey owner of property in the 400 Block North "A" Street,-
which is in a deplorable condition, appeared before the Board and
promised that he would make arrangements to make this more livable in
the next few weeks.
On recommendation of the City Engineer and Fire Chief the Board
approved the extension of an 8" water main to be extended from the
existing water main on South 25th Street to Southeast Parkway, South
"A" Street and South "B" Street to South 27th Street and installation
of 6 fire hydrants to be located in front of Lot Nos. 4, 10, 25, 30,
44 and 49 in said area.
Claims in the amount of . 7, 297,46 were allowed.
There being no further business presented on motion duly made, seconded
and carried, the meeting adjourned,
