The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, April 22, • 1955, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock A.M. ( CST) . Mr. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hod gin and Mr. Chambers. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. A petition was presented for the construction of a storm sewer in the Brookfeld Addition signed by 58 property owners and taxpayers in said area. This was referred to the City Engineer to make an estimate of . the cost that would be involved in making this construction. • Russell Robbins appeared before the Board and requested that water mains and fire hydrants be installed in the Richards Addition which includes the area between South 16th and South 19th Street from South "I" to South "L" Streets. On recommendation of Capt. Juerling the Board ordered that South 13th . and "L" Street be a 4-wa.y stop street and the proper signs to be erected by the City. - The Board ordered the installation of parking meters on the west side of Ft. Wayne Avenue from Main to North "A" Street and on the south side of North "E" Street from North 8th to North 10th Street as was • provided for in Ordinance No. 1525-1954. - On recommendation of Captain ,Juerling the Board approved the removal of 2 parking meters on the west side of South 6th, South 7th and South 9th Streets to provide more room for traffic at the intersections of these streets with South "A" Street. On recommendation of Captain Juerling the Board approved painting the curbs yellow on the east side of North 8th Street at the intersection of North "D" Street. This will eliminate cars from parking at said intersection. The Board also approved the curb to be painted yellow on South 7th Street at the intersection of South "G" Street for a distance of 50 feet. The Board ordered the City Engineer to make a study of directing the traffic in a " clover-leaf" plan near the North 9th Street overpass. The Board ordered the North 5th Street Parking Lot to be metered immediately. The Board recommended that Council be requested to amend the Parking Meter Ordinance to extend on East-.•malfi Street from No.11th to No.12th=1 Streets-,for- one'ghour ,meters;;- on- Sbuth "A" tfrbMbSo. 10thttYSo '1lthor two hour meters: on .Nor: h !FA": from No. 10th,_to No. 11th Streets=' for' two hour 'meters; an4,�on: North 8th Street from No. "A" to No. "B" Street for two hour meters. The Board ordered the installation of street lights as recommended by the Common Council in the Glen Elsa Sub-Division ( extension of College Avenue) . The Board allowed a curb cut on Lot 36-37 C.W. Starr' s 6th Division for Service Station Driveway. Claims in the amount of 833, 250. ?3 were allowed.
