The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, April 8, 1955, at the hour of 8:00 o' clock A.M. ( CST) . Mr. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin and Mr. Chambers. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. Permission was granted to the Evening Optimists Club to sell Circus Tickets at 8th and Main Streets and also park a car in the first parking space in front of the Second National Bank on Saturdays be- fore May 7, 1955. Permission was granted the Indiana Railroad to extend their bus ser- vice to Berry Field. This is only on a temporary basis and there will be only about five buses going daily and no service after 6: 00 P.M. and none on Sundays. A petition was presented by Al Taylor as follows: We, the undersigned being legal r" esidentsof the City of Richmond, Indiana living in the vicinity of South 13th and "I" Streets do hereby petition the proper City Civil authority to cause the legal owner of the property located at 808 South 13th Street to Place said property in a safe and-livable condition or to remove said building. The build- ing is in our opinion dangerous to the life and property • of the neighborhood. The building is open, unsanitary and because the building is open children play in the building and could be injurious to them. The building is also a fire trap. Building is detrimental to the entire neighbor- hood, and we do herewith petition some action be taken in regard to the condition existing at 808 South 13th Street. Signed by thirteen (13) property owners. This was referred to the Building Inspector for his study and recom- mendation. The Board ordered Parking Meters to be installed on Fort Wayne Avenue in the vicinity of the Cafe Napole and the Anchor Grocery. This will eliminate the yellow curbs. Captain Juerling reported that " stop signs" had been placed at the intersection of Southwest Ninth and A Streets, making Southwest A Street the through street and also at West 12th and Main Streets, making Main Street the through street. Permission was granted the Street Commissioner to purchase a new paint stripping machine in the sum of approximately 4 600. 00. This will be used to paint strips in the streets of the city. Fire hydrants were ordered installed on Northwest 5th Street near the new #6 Hose House. The exact sites to be determined by the Fire Chief and City Engineer. Claims in the amount of 444,24.4. 12 were allowed. There being no further business presented on motion duly made, se- conded and carried, the meeting adjourned, • Chairman Attest: C y ler
