OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS &
SAFETY IN SPECIAL SESSION, RICHMOND, INDIANA.
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 1955.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
met in Special Session in its office in the City Hall in said City,
Monday, February 28, 1955, at the hour of 8:00 o' clock A.M. ( CST) . Mr.
Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin
and Mr. Chambers. The following business was had, to-wit:
Mr. Coleman, President, stated that this meeting was called to
adopt the following Resolution:
RESOLUTION
IN MEMORY OF
JOHN BRITTEN, Former Mayor of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, who died February 25, 1955, at Reid Memorial
Hospital.
Mr. John Britten was always faithful to his duty
as Mayor of the City of Richmond, Indiana, during his
serving said city as Mayor from 1939, to and including
1947.
Mr. John Britten will be sorely missed by those
whom he has heretofore been sol closely associated, but the
example of his faithfulness, his efficiency and his good
citizenship will long serve as an inspiration to others to
greater effort in those things which are for the common
good.
To his Widow and other relative, the Board of Public
Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, extends
its sincere sympathy, trusting that GOD in his infinate
goodness will lighten the suffering that has come to them
II . on the account of the passing of Mr; John Britten.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Public
Works and Safety that a copy of this Memorial be sent to
his Widow and also entered in the records of the Special
Meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety.
ADOPTED by the Board of Public Works and Safety,
of the City of Richmond, Indiana, this . 28th day.
