HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-25-1955 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA. - FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 1955 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, February 25, 1955, at the hour of 8:00 o' clock A.M. (CST) . Mr. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin and Mr. Chambers. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of- the previous meeting were dispensed with. Representatives from the Richmond Home Telephone Company, Inc. presented plans and specifications for the installation of a pay telephone stations at the intersection of 8th and Main and 7th and Main Streets. After a thorough study by the Board it was recommended that the tele- phone company contact the Indiana Railway Company and see if said sites interfer with the loading and unloading of bus riders. The Board went on record of approving this installation providing it is agree- able with the Railway Company. The Board approved the request of the Red Cross to place collars around the light poles in the business area during the 1955 campaign. A petition was received signed by owners of real estate requesting the _ passage of a Resolution for the construction of an alley between North 19th and North 20th Street from North "D" to North "E" Street. This petition was referred to the City Engineer to prepare an Improve- ment Resolution. A petition: was received signed by owners of real, estate requesting the passage of a Resolution for the construction of a Sanitary Sewer on Northwest "L" Street from the existing sewer in Northwest "L" Street at the alley west of Harris Street to 219' eastsof Northwest 5th Street. This petition was referred to the City Engineer to prepare an Improve- ment Resolution. The Clerk was authorized to prepare the advertising to receive bids for street material and fuel to be used by the City for the year 1955. Curb cut allowed: 164 Southwest 16th Street for private driveway. Councilman Marino reports the condition of the streets and alleys in the vicinity of the new overpass was disnussed. It was reported that this had been brought to the attention of Mr. Smith of the State Highway Commission and he reported that a representative would be in the City in the next few days to go over t hese conditions with the contractor. Claims in the amount of $1344. 13 were allowed.
