The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Ind Tana.
met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City,
Friday, January 7, 1955, at the hour of 8: 00 o' clock A.M. (CST) . Mr.
Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin
and Mr. Chambers.- The following business was had, to-wit:
On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous
meeting were dispensed with.
The following petition was received: •

Gentlemen:

The attached petitions requesting that two-hour parking
meters be installed on North "8th" street between North
"A" Street and North "C" streets, on North "7th" street
between North "A" and North "C" streets, - and on North
"B" street between North "7th" and "8th" streets were
signed by property owners and businessmen of -this gen-
eral area as well as by their employees, tenants. and
customers. •
As an active participant in obtaining signatures to this
petition, I can truthfully state that at least ninety
per cent of those requested to sign were not only willing
but anxious to do so.
In . as much as there is a definite need for improvement
of the parking situation in this are, we respectfully
submit this request for your consideration. I/

The above was referred to the Gity. Engineer and Captain Juerling for
their study and. recommendation.
The Board ordered the installation of streets lights on South 23rd •
Streets and on South "L" Street as outlined by the M.F.L.& P.P. on
the date of December 30, 1954.
The Board ordered the installation of a street light at the intersection
of South 14th and "P" Street.
On recommendation of the City Engineer the Board approved the instal-
lation of a one (1) inch water line to be extended from Northwest 1st
Street east 250 feet on Railroad Street.

On recommendation of Captain Juerling the Board ordered. stop signs
to be placed at the intersection of North llth and "I" Street making
North llth the stop street. The Board referred to Captain Juerling
the study of what type of a sign is needed where the traffic enters
from old North 10th Street onto the new overpass traffic.
The Board ordered the clerk write the State Highway Commission re-
questing the installation of a traffic light at the intersection of
Southwest 1st Street and U. S. 40 (National Road West) .Claims in the amount of A1750.00 were allowed.
There being no further business presented on motion duly made, seconded
and carried, the meeting adjourned.
