The Board . of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, December 17, 1954, at the hour of 8:00 oeclock A.M. (CST) . Mr. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin and Mr. Chambers. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. The Clerk presented proofs of Publication printed in the Richmond Palladium Item, a newspaper on the dates of November 29 and December 6, 1954, that sealed bids would be received on this date for two ( 2) new front doors for the City Building as per plans and specifications, The proofs were ordered filed. The following bids were opened and read aloud: Dailey Electric Co. , Inc. Installation of two (2) new. front doors at the City Building as per specifications 4$2150.00 Richmond Glass & Paint Co. Two (2) new front doors for the City Building installed 4$1548. 00 On motion made by Mr. Hodgin anc' seconded by Mr. Chambers and unani— mously carried the bid was awarded to the Richmond Glass and Paint Company, The following was received from the State Highway Commission: RESOLUTION WHEREAS, under and by virtue of the Statutes of the State of Indiana relative to traffic regulation, the State Highway I/ Department of Indiana has the authority and the duty to adopt and promulgate regulations in the interest of the safety and convenience of the traveling :public using the highways, including streets in cities and towns, under the control of said Department. Be it resolved that parking on US 4.0 in Richmond be restricted as follows: 1 — NO PARKING AT ANY TIME on the north side of the National Road (US between Southwest 4th and Southwest 5th Streets. 2 — NO PARKING AT ANY TIME on the west side of Southwest First Street between West Main Street and and the National Road. This resolution is supplemental to and amendatory of all previous resolutions restricting narking on US 4.0 in the City of Richmond. Walker Secretary The Board ordered the Clerk on recommendation of the Mayor to ask for the installation of a traffic sign at the intersection of North 10th and "J" Streets. 71 The Street Commissioner reported that 24 new signs had been installed along Whitewater Blvd. near the Senior High School and upon his in- vestigation this morning said that either 4 or 6 had been torn down and bent by someone. A letter was received from Mr. F.D. Gregg, 630 South 23rd Street, re- questing the installation of adequate street lighting on the west side of South 23rd Street south of "E" Street. The City Engineer recommended that this be referred to the City Light Plant Committee and also that an investigation be made by the Light Plant Committee to consider adequate street lighting on South 23rd to South "L" and west on South "L" to South 16th Street. This area has been built up by the erection of new homes to the extent that there is a need for street lighting in this area, and South "L" Street is being travelled considerably. The Clerk of the Board was instructed go write Mr. Beck a letter ordering the installation of a traffic light at South 9th and "L" Streets when the material is available from the State Highway Com- mission. Claims in the amount of $20, 742. 37 were allowed. There being no further business presented on motion duly made, se- conded and carried, the meeting adjourned. (\/V Chairman Attest: City rk
