HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-03-1954 68 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA. FRIDAY, DECEABER 3, 1954. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, December 3, 1954, at the hour of 8: 00 o' clock A. M. ( CST) . Mr. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin and Mr. Chambers. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. Wilbur Westerkamp presented the following petition: "WE THE UNDERSIGNED, PROPERTY OWNERS IN THE 14, 15 AND 16 HUNDRED BLOCK OF SOUTH 5TH ST. RI'CHMOND, INDIANA, BEING AWARE OF THE VERY POOR JOB DONE ON THE SIDEWALKS AND CURBS, IN THE AFOREMENTIONED BLOCKS OF S. 5TH ST. , SAID WALKS AND CURBS HAVING BEEN POURED OVER MUD WITHOUT THE USE OF SAND OR GRAVEL AS A FOUNDATION UNDER THE NEW CONCRETE. AS A RESULT OF THIS POOR CONSTRUCTION THERE HAVE ALREADY BEEN COUNTED 52 BREAKS IN THE SIDEWALKS' AND 46 BREAKS IN THE CURBS. WE HEREBY PETITION TO HAVE SAID SIDEWALKS AND CURBS RE- PAIRED BEFORE COMMITTING OURSELVES TO PAYMENT EITHER IN FULL OR PART FOR THESE SO CALLED IMPROVEMENTS. " This was referred to the City Engineer to investigate and report back to the Board. The Clerk presented proofs of publication printed in the Richmond Palladium Item, a newspaper on the dates of November 8-15, 1954 and November 17-24, 1954 that a public hearing would be held on this date for Assessment Rolls 978-1954, 979-1954, 983-1954 and 984-1954. The proofs of publication were ordered filed. After hearing all persons present who were interested in the above Improvement Resolutions the Board unanimously confirmed the Assessment Rolls as adopted November 5, 1954. Claims in the amount of •$3, 851. 99 were allowed. There being no further business presented on motion duly made, se- conded and carried, the meeting adjourned. . Y Chairman Attest: t?w City erk
