HomeMy Public PortalAbout11-05-1954 62 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA. FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 1954. The Board of Public Works and. Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, November 5, 1954, at the hour of 9:00 o' clock A.M. (CST) . Mr. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin and Mr. Chambers. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. Mrs. Albert Williams, President of Mothers Study Uroup of Nicholson School and a number of other parents, asked the Board to make some provision for the safety of children crossing North 10th Street to go to school. The Board referred this matter to Captain Juerling to make a study and. recommendation. On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the Board ordered a tree to be removed from the northeast corner of 18th and East Main Street. This tree is obstructing the view of motorist seeing the traffic light located at this intersection. The Board ordered yellow curb painted on the south side of South 20th and Main Streets. The Clerk presented proofs of publication printed in the Richmond Palladium-Item, a newspaper on the dates of October 22 and 29, 1954, that sealed bids would be received on this date for three (3) new Police cars. The proofs were received and ordered filed. The following bids were opened and read aloud: DEA MEADOWS FORD SALES,INC. 3— 1955 Mainline Ford automobiles equipped with 6 cylinder engine, large heater and defrosters, seal covers, door covers, back panel covers, spare wheel, tire, oil filter, oil bath air cleaner, alternating type generator, and Federal Siren 66LAR with no brake with 7" front lens and 3 3/4" rear lens. The prive for the three (3) units shall be $3429. 48 plus two (2) 1953 Chevrolets and one . 1953 Ford Police cars as identified to bidder by the Police department. The Clerk presented the appraisers valuation for the following trade-ins: 1953 Ford, #A3UG 155042 c36o0.00 1953 Chevrolet, #LAA237593 500. 00 1953 Chevrolet, ##LAA1o83911 600. 00 64 All of the above bids were referred to the City Engineer and Police Chief for their study and recommendations. The Board awarded the following curb cut: Y.W. C.A. North 9th and "A" Streets for walk for storm water main. The following Preliminary Assessment Rolls were unanimously adopted by the Board: 978-195.4 - N.W. 17th from "B" to Peacock Road Curb, gutter and sidewalk 979-1954 — S.W. 16th from Main to "A" Street Curb, gutter and sidewalk, 983-1954 - N.W. 17th from Main to "B" Street Curb, gutter and sidewalk east side 984-1954 - N.W. 16th from "B10 to Peacock Road Curb, gutter and sidewalk west side Claims in the amount of h7276. 85 were allowed.
