HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-29-1954 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS 6 AND SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 29, 1954•. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, October 29, 1954, at the hour of 9: 00 o' clock A.M. (CST) . Mr. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin and Mr. Chambers. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. A letter was received from the Richmond Retail Merchants Bureau, Inc. asking help of the local Fire Department in erecting and taking down of the Christmas lights that brighten our streets at Christmas time. The Board unanimously approved the Fire Department of supplying the help necessary to do this work as has .been the policy in the past. Mr. Coleman presented the following Parking Meter Budget for 1955 for the Board to study: PARKING METER BUDGET. FOR 1955 Payroll (3 Policemen) $12, 025. 00 Salary of Meterman 3, 800. 00 Traffic Lites- where needed 12,000. 00 Parts, Insurance, Printing, Postage, etc. 4,000. 00 Street Painting & Sign Work 10,000. 00 To Off Street Parking Fund (Estimated) 14•, 000.00 The City Clerk was authorized to prepare a Parking Meter Budget Ordinance for Council' s consideration The Board authorized the removal of two (2) parking meters from the east side of North 9th Street south from North "A11 Street to provide an extra lane for traffic movement. The Board approved the "No Parking" of vehicles on the west side of North 9th Street north from North "A" Street to North "C" Street and also on the west side of South 9th Street south from Main Street to the first alley south.
