HomeMy Public PortalAbout08-27-1954 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA. FRIDAY, AUGUST 27, 1954 . The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, August 27, 1954, at the hour of 9:00 o' clock P.M. (CDST) . Mr. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin and Mr. Chambers. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous , meeting were dispensed with. A Petition requesting a Resolution for the construction of concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter on both sides of Northwest "B" Street from Northwest 15th to Northwest 16th Street was received and referred to the City Engineer to prepare a Resolution. The City Engineer received two ( 2) bids to wreck and dispose of all rubbish of a house located on North 5th Street which is to be used as a parking lot. The two (2) bids submitted were as follows: Campbell Brothers Construction Co. 3500.00 Charles Harmon 500.00 On recommendation of the City Engineer the Board approved the bid of Charles Harmon' s estimate. On recommendation of Captain: Juerling.'the. Board approved the installation of the necessary signs to make a 4-way stop at the intersection of Southwest 4th and "C" Streets, The Clerk presented proofs of publication printed in the Richmond Palladium-Item, a newspaper on August 9 and 16, 1954-, that a public hearing would be held on Assessment Roll 977-1953. The proofs were ordered filed. After hearing all taxpayers present and no remonstrance being filed 'I/ the Board now unanimously confirms Assessment Roll 977-1953 as adopted. On recommendation of the Fire Chief the Board unanimously approved the appointment of the following men as probationary firemen as of September 1, 1954: Robert W. McDaniel Glen E. Brown William H. Berry Joseph M. Brenneman Melvin Ponder The Board allowed the following curb cuts: 1501 North "F" Street for drive in for parking lot 1126 West Main Street for driveway Claims in the amount -of .fi12, 712, 60 were allowed.
