District C Councilor WHEREAS: The Watertown Housing Partnership, a policy making body, consisting of
volunteer members appointed by the City Manager has overseen the development and
John M.Airasian preservation of affordable housing in Watertown since its establishment in 1989 and whose
Councilor At Large advocacy has contributed to the creation of nearly 500 affordable housing units in Watertown;

Councilor At Large WHEREAS: The cumulative knowledge of the many Watertown Housing Partnership
members spans well over 75 years with it demonstrating its strong commitment to affordable

WHEREAS: The Watertown Housing Partnership has played a leading role in proposing and

Nicole Gardner,District A Councilor WHEREAS: The Watertown Housing Partnership assists in the administration of the HOME
funds through the WestMetro HOME Consortium, and the Affordable Housing Development

WHEREAS: The Watertown Housing Partnership established and funded an emergency
Emily Izzo, rental assistance program to address the needs of our neighbors unable to meet their rental
District D Councilor obligations during the pandemic; and
WHEREAS: The Watertown Housing Partnership periodically developed an Affordable
Housing Plan as a guide to creating and maintaining affordable housing in Watertown and
has suggested that the City Council consider a permanent rental assistance program and an
ordinance allowing accessory dwelling units; and
WHEREAS: The Watertown Housing Partnership has strongly supported the creation of a
Watertown Affordable Housing Trust aware that the Partnership would be dissolved; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: The Watertown City Council recognizes the
tremendous contribution of the Watertown Housing Partnership to the City's residents and
expresses its sincere gratitude to all former and current members of the Watertown Housing
Partnership.
