HomeMy Public PortalAbout11/9/2021 Resolution: Proclamation honoring Angela "Rose" Carabello on her 100th BirthdayWHEREAS: Angela "Rose" Carabello was born on November 8, 1921, attended Watertown schools, married, has two sons, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and has always lived in Watertown; and WHEREAS: Rose retired from Blue Cross at the age of 62 and started attending line dancing classes through the Watertown Senior Center in the Phillips School Gym; and WHEREAS: In the mid- 1980s, Rose became a passionate advocate for the building of the Watertown Senior Center at 31 Marshall Street; and WHEREAS: Once the Senior Center opened in 1993, Rose enjoyed the company of other residents, continued line dancing, and learned to play cribbage; Rummikub and other games, and supported the social events at the Senior Center and encouraged others to join her; and WHEREAS: For 30 years, Rose donated her time and talent to crocheting afghans, blankets, dish cloths and dish towels to be sold in support of Senior Center activities, and crocheted a special afghan for each of up to five Senior Center parties a year amounting to over 100 afghans contributed; and WHEREAS: To this day, Rose continues to attend weekly Rummikub and card groups and donates her crocheted items to the Senior Center; and is a true friend and inspiration to everyone at the Senior Center. NOW THEREFORE BE IT PROCLAIMED: That the Town Council of the City known as the Town of Watertown extends its congratulations to ANGELA "ROSE" CARABELLO ON HER 100TH BIRTHDAY IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have Hereunto set our hand and caused the Great Seal of the Town of Watertown To be affixed on this 9th day of November 2021 :)J&AA,0_­J Mark S.
