FRIDAY, JULY 16, 1954 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, July 16, . 1954, at the hour of 9:00 o ' clock A.M. (CDST) . Mr. Coleman presiding with the following member being present: Mr. Hodgin. Mr. Chambers being absent. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. IIThe Clerk presented proofs of publications printed in the Richmond . Palladium-Item, a newspaper on the dates of June 21 and 28, 1954 that a public hearing would be held on this date on Improvement Resolution No. 982-1954. The proofs were ordered filed. The Board heard all taxpayers present who desired to express themselves on Improvement Resolution No. 982-1954.. There was a remonstrance filed and presented. On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the Board deferred action on Improvement Resolution No. 982-1954 until a later date. The Clerk presented proofs of publications printed in the Richmond Palladium-Item, a newspaper on the dates of June 21 and 28, 1954, that a public hearing would be held on Improvement Resolution No. 971-1954. The proofs were ordered filed. After hearing all taxpayers present who was interested in Assessment No. 971-1953 and no remonstrance was filed, the board now unanimously confirms said Assessment Roll No. 971-1954 as adopted. The Board granted permission to Fulle' s Grocery Store to place a 15 minute parking zone on the north side of said Grocery for an unload- ing zone. The Clerk presented proofs of publications printed in the Richmond Palladium-Item, a newspaper on the dates of June 29 and July 6, 1954, that sealed bids would be received on this date for furnishing coal and fuel oil for the various departments of the City. The proofs were ordered filed. • Bids were received from the various companies and read aloud: OIL- Good Oil Company, Inc. , Warfield Oil Company, Inc. Wayne County Farm Bureau, Shera Coal and Oil Co. COAL-Wayne County Farm Bureau, Muff Grain and Coal Co. , Kendall Coal Co. , Sam Jaffe Co. , and Shera Coal and . Oil Co. All the above bids were taken under advisement and referred to the City Engineer for his tabulations and recommendations. A letter was. received from the State Highway Commission, Centerville District asking to rent the Street Sweeper from the City for part time on State Highways and Streets in Richmond. Street Commissioner, Burlison reported that this sweeper would be in use by his department all the time and recommended that this request be rejected. The Board approved the recommendation of the Street Commissioner. A petition signed by owners of real estate on South 4th Street re- questing a resolution be passed for the construction of concrete curb gutter and sidewalk on both sides of South 4th Street, from South "Ni' Street to South "Q" Street was referred to the City Engineer to pre- pare a resolution. • . Claims in the amount of 03-208. 78 were allowed.
