FRIDAY, MAY 14, 1954 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond., Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, May 14, 1954, at the hour of 9:00 o' clock A.M. (CDST) . Mr. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin and Mr. Chambers. The following business was. had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the pre- vious meeting were dispensed with. On recommendation of the Fire Chief, the Board approved Robert Holt, who has served the one year probationary period to be advanced to that of a regular fireman as of May 16, 1954. The Clerk was authorized to write the State Highway Department of Indiana requesting permission to install a traffic signal light on South 5th Street, between South "B" and "C" Streets. Chief of Police Rohe and Captain Juerling recommended this location after making a study. On recommendation of the Fire Chief, the Board approved the extension of a six ( 6) inch water main from the present fire hydrant in Grace Drive, west along Park Terrace Drive to the present fire hydrant in Park Terrace Drive at the circle, to improve the fire protection .in the Travers Park subdivision and serve about 15 lots now being built upon. The Clerk presented proofs of publications printed in the Richmond Palladium-Item, a newspaper, on the dates of .April 20th and 27th, 1954, that sealed bids would be received on this date for furnishing. a new fire truck for the Fire Department. The proofs were ordered filed. The only bid received was opened and read aloud: MAXIM MOTOR COMPANY One (1) Model #2357, Maxim Custom-Built motorized triple combination pumping engine, fully meeting the specifications on file in the Fire Chief' s office 019, 945..89. Fire Chief Williams stated that this price was within the budget and recommended the purchase of this fire truck. Chambers moved that the contract be awarded to the Maxim Co. This motion was seconded by Hodgin and carried. The Clerk presented proofs of Publications printed in the Richmond Palladium-Item, a newspaper, on the dates of April 26th and May 3, 1954, that sealed proposals would be received on this date for furnishing forty (40) or more parking meters for the Parking Lot on North 10th Street. The proofs were ordered filed. The only bid received was opened and read aloud: DUNCAN PARKING METER CORPORATION 40 or more of corrosion resisting material, Cumalative 10-hour Duncan Miller Parking Meters, Multiple 5¢ and 100 coins, head only, f. o.b. Factory . . . . .$57.50 each. Hodgin moved that the bid of the Duncan Parking Meter Corp. be accepted. This motion was seconded. by Chambers and carried. The Clerk presented proofs of publications printed in the Richmond Palladium-Item, a newspaper, on the dates of May 3 and 10, 1954, that sealed proposals would be received for sewer pipe material this date.
