FRIDAY, MAY 7, 1954 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, . May 7, 1954, at the hour of 9: 00 o° clock A.M. (CDST) . Mr. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin and Mr. Chambers. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. Street Commissioner, Burlison asked that the sum of $13,000. 00 be transfered from the Street Department Funds unappropriated, to Motor Equipment for the Purchase of a grader for said Street Department. The board approved this on motion made by Chambers, seconded by Hodgin and carried. The board went on record to thank the Civil Defense workers for the splendid job done on handling the traffic at the 8th Street Railroad crossing Sunday, May 2, 1954. Permission was granted the Knights of St. Johns to stage a parade Sunday, May 16, 1954. The Board ordered the street lights installed in the Brookfeld Addition as per specifications outlined by the Light Plant. Councilman Law' s letter about the condition of the streets in the neighborhood of where Howard Jackson built some houses was discussed. Mr. Hodgin stated that S.W. "E" Street was to be repaired. Nothing could be done by the City on the other streets until Mr. Jackson has made the improvements for the City to take over and maintain. Claims in the amount of $1,516.60 were allowed.
