OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC -WORKS
AND SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA.
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 1954.
. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana,,
met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City,
Friday, February 19, 1954, at the hour of 9:00 o" clock A.M. (CST) , Mr.
Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin
and Mr. Chambers. The following business was had, to-wit:
On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried the minutes of
the previous meeting were dispensed with.

The Clerk presented proofs of publications printed in the Richmond
X' Palladium--Item, a newspaper of general circulation in said City on
the dates of Feberuary 1-8, 1954, that a public hearing would be held
on this date on Improvement Resolution No. 978-1954. The proofs were
ordered filed.
The Board met to hear all persons interested or whose property effected
by the improvement of Northwest 17th Street on both sides, from a -
point 55 feet south of Northwest "B" Street to Peacock Road by'
construction of concrete curbs, gutters and sidewalks between the two
points above mentioned under Improvement Resolution No. 978-1954.
After hearing all persons interested who appeared and no remonstrance
being filed: the Board being duly advised in the premises, decides
that the benefits to the property liable to. be assessed for said
improvements are equal to the cost of same as reported by the City
Civil engineer and thereupon take final action on said resolution,
the same being confirmed without modification.
The Board approved a preliminary assessment roll under Improvement
Resolution No. 972-1953, for the construction of a Sanitary Sewer in
South 3rd Street, from South "L" Street to South "N" Street and east
on South "N" Street to South 4th Street.
On recommendation of the Fire Chief the board ordered the extension
of a six ( 6" ) inch water main from the present fire hydrant located.
at the intersection of Park Terrace Drive and Carol Drive, north on
Park Terrace Drive to anoint approximately 500 feet and ordered a
fire hydrant placed at this point.. The extension of a six (6" ) inch
water main from the present fire hydrant located on Grace Drive,
north approximately 500 feet to. where Grace Drive intersects Park
Terrace Drive and ordered a fire hydrant placed at this point, to
serve as fire protection in this area.
On recommendation of the -wire Chief the board ordered the extension
of a six ( 6" ) inch water main from the present fire hyarant located
at the intersection of South-vast Parkway and South "C Street north
• along South 24th Street to the end of said street which is approximately
610 feet and ordered a fire hydrant placed at the end of this main
to serve as' fire protection in this area.
A letter was received from the Exchange Club requesting information
about what formality is required to stage a parade on Main Street for
a Circus that they are sponsoring. The City Attorney was advised to
check this before the board takes any action.
The Board granted the CoOp Taxi Cab Company 2 car length parking space
in front of 31 South 6th Street. Two meters will have to be removed.
The Board authorized the Clerk to. write a letter giving permission
to the Light Plant to remove two ornamental street lights near the
North 10th Street Bridge and replace the same with the new overhanging
type of street lights.
The Board authorized Capt. Juerling to carry out a traffic safety
program in the local newspapers and radio station if sponsors are
available.
Claims in the amount of S32, 021. 27 were allowed.

THIS INDENTURE WITNESSETH, That George' entland Builders,
Inc. through its. president, George F. Scantland, hereby dedicates
and grants to the City of Richmond of Wayne County, State of
Indiana, for the purpose of establishing a public thoroughfare •
b'y' -widening -the -first--alley-.we•st of Southwest Third Street, ex-
tending north frdm- Southwest "C" Street, the following described
land: Being a part of .Tract No. 220 of the Official Map of the
said City of Richmond more particularly described as follows:

officers, hereby dedicates and grantee to the City of Richmond; of
Wayne County, State of India na, for the purpose of opening an
extension of West Main Street, in said City for public use, the
following described land. in Fractional Section Thirty-six (36) ,
Township Fourteen (14) North, Range Two (2) West, all in the City
of Richmond, of Wayne County, State of Indiana; more partidularly
described as follows: .
Beginning at the point of intersection of the west line of
West 18th Street (formerly Easthaven Avenue) , with the south line
of said Fractional Section 36; thence west, along the said south
line of said Fractional Section 36, one hundred sixty-five (165)
feet, to the east end of that part of West Main Street as
