The_ Board of Public Works and Safety .of the City of Richmond, Indi- ana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall. in said City Friday, January 29, 1954, at the hour of 9:00 o' clock A.M. (CST) . Mr. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin and Mr. Chambers. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded. and unanimously carried the minutes of . the previous meeting were dispensed with. ' • • ti`• The Clerk presented' proofs of publication printed in the Richmond Cr.) Palladium, a newspaper of general circulation in Richmond, India na, CJ on the dates of January 11-18, 1954, that sealed proposals would be received on this date until 9: 00 o'clock A.M. for labor and material to do the work provided for in Improvement Resolution No. 977-195 , The proofs were ordered received and filed. The following bids were received and opened and read aloud: DeBolt Concrete Co. , Inc. - Richmond, Indiana 97, 952.52' • Francis Garvey, New Castle, Indiana ' 7, 732. 12 No award was made but the matter was taken under advisement until the next meeting. The Clerk presented proofs of publications printed in the Richmond . Palladium, a newspaper of general circulation in said City on January 14-21, 1954, that sealed proposals would be received on this date at the hour of 9:00 o' clock A.M. for one business coupe. This car to be for the Department of Health and Sanitation. The following bids were opened and read aloud: Dea Meadows Ford. Sales, Inc. $1400.00 E.H. Gilcrest, Inc. 1483.00 Brown Motor Company 1600. 00 Rhoads Auto Sales 1607.80 Willoughby Chevrolet Co. 1475. 00 . On recommendation of the City Engineer and Health Inspector the Board unanimously approved awarding the following bid to the Dea Meadows Ford Sales, Inc. for $1400.00. • The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 978-1954 to improve both sides of Northwest 17th Street from a point 55 feet south of Northwest UB" Street to Peacock Road by the construction of concrete sidewalks, curbs and gutters in accordance with plans and specifications on file in the office of the Board of Public Works and Safety. ItOn recommendation of Capt. Juerling the Board approved the installa- tion of signs on the parking lot east of the Whitewater Boulevard, just . north of Southwest "G" Street prohibiting the parking of trucks. The Street Commissioner was instructed to• install such signs. • Claims in the amount of 3252032.08 were allowed.
