FRIDAY, DECEMBER 11, 1953. - The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, December 11, 1953, at the hour of 9: 00 o' clock A.M. (CST) . Mr. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. . Hodgin and Mr. Haworth. The following business-was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carrie , the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. -. Mr. Haworth recommended and moved that all the bids received to do the work on West Main Street as provided for in Improvement Resolution No. 973-1953 be rejected and be re-advertised for on a future date, seconded by Mr. Hodgin and on voice vote was unanimously carried. The Ct two low bidders did not produce and file a satisfactory financial statement with their bids. Mr. Haowrth moved that the board proceed with the advertising for bids immediately. The motion was lost due .to the last of a second. A petition was filed to have the dwelling house located at 18 Richmond Avenue removed as it is felt that it is a serious fire hazard, - also very unsanitary, and a disgrace to the neighborhood. Petitions for street lights at the alley between North 13th and loth and North "C" Street: On North 13th Street, between North "G" and "H" Streets and also on North 14th Street, between North "G" and "H" Streets were received and referred to the Light Plant Committee. The hoard concurred in the plan of the Richmond Garden Club to plant trees along the west bank of the Whitewater River. The Park Depart- went to supervise the planting of the trees. Mr. Roy McFarland, 1306 South 8th Street, .appeared before the board in regards to the Building Inspector not permitting him to proceed with building a house on front of the lot located at the above address. The City Engineer to investigate the complaint. The condition of Nor. th, E_ Street at the intersection of North 9th Street was referred to the Street Commissioner. Claims in the amount of $p8,543. 37 were allowed. There being no further business presented on motion duly made, se- conded and carried, the meeting adjounred. Chairman Attest: Ar�y City`•]erk /
