OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
AND SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA.
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16, 1953.

The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City,
Friday, October 16, 1953, at the hour of 9: 00 o' clock A.M. (CST) . Mr.
Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin
and Mr. Haworth.
On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous
meeting were dispensed with.
The Board unanimously voted to decline the request for the removal
of .a parking meter in front of the Parking Lot located on the west
side of 7th Street in front of Brown' s Parking lot.
The Board approved the City Attorney of preparing an Ordinance for
the Councils consideration regarding the removal of locks and closing
devices on discarded and unused ice boxes, refrigerators or air tight
containers.
The Board unanimously adopted Preliminary Assessement Roll No. 966-
1953 and ordered the Clerk to prepare the advertisement for a public
hearing to be held. on November 13, 1953.
The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 974-1953,
to improve both sides of Laird Street, from Harris Street to the
alley east of the Pennsylvania Railroad right-of-way by construction
of concrete curbs and gutters on both sides thereof in accordance with
the profile , details, drawings and specifications on file in the
office of the Board of Works.
The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 975-1953, to •
improve both sides of South "J" Street, from South 13th Street to
South 16th Street by construction of concrete sidewalks, curbs and
gutters on both sides of the street in accordance with the plans,
profile, details, drawings and specifications on file in the office
of the Board of Works.
The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No, 976-1953, to
improve property abutting onSouth "Jig Street, from Soutla 16th Street
to a point one hundred forty ( 140) feet east of the east line of
South 13th Street in said City by construction of a Sanitary Sewer
in accordance with the plans, profile, details, drawings and speci-
fications now on file in the office of the City Civil Engineer.
The Board approved that the order to the Water. Works for the installa-
tion of a six ( 6) inch water main and fire hydrant in the vicinity of
South "G" Street, from South 19th Street to South 17th Street be
changed to that of an eight (8) inch water main.'
Claims in the amount of P,26, 208. 80 were allowed.
There being no further business presented on motion duly made, seconded
and carried, the meeting adjourned. rr
