The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, 0ctober9, 1953, at the hour of 9: 00 oeclock A.M. (CST) . Mr. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin and Mr. Haworth, The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutesof the. previous . meeting were dispensed with. A petition signed by property owners on Laird Street petitioned for the construction of concrete curb and gutters on both sides of Laird Street, from Harris Street to the alley east of Pennsylvania Railroad. This was referred to the City Engineer to prepare plans, specifications and a Improvement Resolution to do said work. The Board unanimously approved the recommendation of the Light Plant Committee to install 6-4000 L. Pendant Street Lights in Travers Park. Terrace Sub-division, located north of Peacock Road between N.W. 13th and 16th Streets. The Board approved the request of the Wayne County Tuberculosis Association of placing a mobile chest x-ray unit on the southwest corner of Ninth and Main Streets from November 30th to December 4th. On motion made by Hodgin, seconded by Haworth and unanimously carried the board adopted Improvement Resolution No. 973-1953, to improve West Main Street from West 18th Street to the west corporation line of the City, by construction of concrete curb and gutter on both sides, and the construction of modern pavement the full width between curbs in accordance with the profile, details, drawings and specifications on file in the office of the Board of Public Works and Safety. On recommendation of the City Engineer the Board approved the bid ,of Price Brothers Company to furnish 36" concrete pipe for storm sewers. The Board approved the -installation 'of four-way stop signs at the ' intersection of Northwest 18th and Peacock Road. • On recommendation of Captain Juerling the Board- of Works approved installation of "No Parking" on both sides of S.W. ."D" Street from S.W. let Street east to the property line of the Richmond Senior High Schobl, first from Main Street A petition requesting that the/alley/between North llth and 12th Streets be made two-way for traffic was referred to Captain Juerling Capt. Juerling for study and. recommendation. A petition requesting the extension of a water line west from South 19th and "G!! Street approximately 550 feet to South 17th and "G" Streets and a fire hydrant at the intersection of South 17th and "G" Streets was approved by the board. 36_ A petition requesting the extension of a water line on Southwest 11 °C" Street between Southwest 3rd Street and Southwest 4th Street was referred to the City Engineer for study and recommendation.
