The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
Met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City,
Friday, October 2, 1953, at the hour of 9: 00 o' clock A.M. (CST) , Mr.
Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin
and Mr. Haworth. The following business was had, to-wit:
On motion- duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the pre-
vious meeting were dispensed with.
The parking meters on the Market House lot were. discussed but referred
to the Mayor and City Engineer to study.
The Clerk presented proofs of publication printed in the .Richmond
Palladium-Item, a newspaper of general circulation in the City of
Richmond, Indiana, on the dates of September 17-21, 1953, that sealed
proposals would be received on this date at 9: 00 o' clock A.M. (CST)
for concrete pipe as per specification. The proofs were ordered
received and filed.
The following bids were received and read aloud:
Price Brothers Company, Dayton, Ohio
250 feet Reinforced Concrete Sewer Pipe 1, L87.50
250 feet Reinforced ,Concrete Culver Pipe 1, 670.00
Independent Concrete Pipe Co. , Indianapolis, Indiana.
No certified check accompanied this bid so was rejected.
The Price Brothers bid was referred to the City Engineer for study
and recommendations.
The Clerk presented proofs of publication printed in the Richmond
Palladium-Item, a newspaper of general circulation in the City of
Richmond, Indiana, on the dates of September 14-21, 1953, that a
public hearing would be held on this date at 9:00 o' clock A.M. (CST)
for Assessment Roll No. 957-1953, as adopted on the llth day of
September, 1953. The proofs were ordered received and filed. After
hearing all person affected the Board unanimously confirmed the
Assessment Roll No. 957-1953 as adopted.
The Clerk presented proofs of publication printed in the Richmond
Palladium-Item, a newspaper of general circulation in the City of
Richmond, Indiana, on the dates of September 21-28, 1953, that sealed
bids would be received until the hour of 9: 00 o' clock A.M. (CST)
on this date for labor and material as required to do Improvement
Resolution Number 969-1953. The proofs were received and ordered
filed.
The following bid was received, opened and read aloud:

The S. S. Palma Construction Co.', Lafayette, Indiana. 42010.56.
This was under the ettimate which was $ 2101. 20. On recommendation
of the City Engineer the Board unanimously approved awarding the
contract to the S.S. Palma Company.
On recommendation of the Chief of Police the board unanimously
approved awarding the following:

The Board unanimously adopted Preliminary Assessment Roll No. 964-
1953 for the construction of curb and gutter on both sides of N.W.
3rd Street from Lincoln Street to-Randolph Street.
The Board unanimously adopted Preliminary Assessment Roll No. 965-
1953 for construction of concrete alley the full width of first
alley south of West Main Street between Southwest 9th Street and
Southwest 10th Street.
The Board on recommendation of the Fire Chief approved the extension
of a six inch (6" ) water main from South 19th to South 17th Streets
on South F Street and installation of a fire hydrant at the inter-
section of South 17th and F Streets to serve as fire protection in
this new developed area.
The Board ordered the trees to be removed from the center of South
West 13th Street between Main and National Road.
The Clerk was authorized to send a notice to the owner of the filling
station located, at North 12th and "J" Streets to stop throwing trash
over the -river bank.
Claims in the amount of ? 5, 482. 31 were allowed. •
There being no further business presented on motion duly made,
seconded and carried, the meeting adjourned.
