FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 1953 The Board. of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday September 18, 1953, at the hour of 9: 00 o' clock A.M. (CDST) . Mr. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin and Mr. Haworth. The following business wa.s had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. Mr. John Freeante, Asst. Supervisor of Pennsylvania Railroad Company, appeared before the board to report that the North 8th Street Railroad crossing would have to be closed for 30 days starting October 1; 1953 to install a permanent crossing to replace the old one. All the material is on hand. The Board took this under advisement for the City Engineer to study about re-routing the traffic. s Improvement Resolution No. 968-1953 which was taken under advisement by the City Engineer to- study the names on the peition and remonstrance had the following action taken: The remonstrances showed the majority so the Board on motion duly made, seconded and carried now recinds all action heretofore taken on said. Improvement Resolution No. 968-1953. The Board approved the installation of water mains and fire hydrants in the Hunt Addition as proposed by the Fire Chief. A discussion was held regarding the complaint filed by Fire Chief L. L. Williams and Captain R. Wadman of their objections to the factory wiring of pre-fabricated homes of the General Industries of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Mr. Frankhouse of the State Fire Marshall Bureau and. Mr. Weston of the General Industries was present. After hearing all pre- sent, the City Attorney asked that it be made a record hereof that in the future all complaints of this nature will be filed in the Building Inspectors office and if an agreement cannot be made, then they shall have to take their complaints to Court as the Building Inspector has by Ordinance full jurisdiction over the Building Code as it shall be exercised in the City of Richmond. The Board gave permission to the Part Supt. to remove the dead elm trees on Southwest 13th Street, between West Main and National Road. The request to remove .a tree on Southwest 6th Street between National Road and Southwest "A" Street was referred to• the City Engineer. The proofs of publication printed in the Richmond Palladium-Item, a newspaper of general circulation in said City on the dates of August 24th and 31st, 1953 that a.- public hearing would be held on this date at 9L00 o ' clock A. M. (CST) on Assessment Roll No. 961-1953, The proofs were ordered received and filed. The Board meets to hear remonstrances, if any, of persons primarily assessed on account of the Improvement Resolution No. 961-1953. After x hearing all persons present who were interested, who appeared, the II Board approves the final assessment roll, and confirms said resolution as adopted. - The proofs of publication printed in the Richmond Palladium-Item, a newspaper of general circulation in said City on the dates of August 24th and 31st, 1953 that a .public hearing would be held on this date at the hour of 9: 00 o' clock A.M. (CST) on Improvement Resolution No, 969-1953. ,' 'he proofs were ordered received and filed. • The Board meets to hear all persons interested or whose property is affected by Improvement Resolution Number 969-1953. After hearing �F all persons interested who appeared, and being fully advi.sed in the premises, the board decides that the benefits to property liable to be assessed for said improvements are equal to the estimated cost of the same as reported by the City Engineer, and thereupon takes final , action on said resolution as originally adopted, and the same being confirmed without modification. - • The proofs of publication Sprinted in the Richmond Palladium-Item, a newspaper of general circulation in said City on the dates of Sept. , 1-8, 1953, that a public hearing would be held on this date at 9: 00 o' clock A.M. (CST) on Improvement Resolution No. 970-1953. The proofs were received and ordered filed. The Board meets to hear all persons interested or whose property is. affected by Improvement Resolution No. 970-1953. On examination it was found that the petition contained only the names of persons living in. the 1400 and 1500 Block onSouth "L" Street and the petition asked for the improvements from South 13th to South 16th Streets. The Board now recinds all action heretofore taken on said Improvement Resolution No. 970-1953. The Board allowed the claims in the amount of i;51,803. 95. .
