HomeMy Public PortalAbout08-28-1953 3 4 5 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA. FRIDAY, AUGUST 28, 1953. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, August 28, 1953, at the hour of 9:00 o' clock A.M. (CDST) . Mr. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin and Mr. Haworth. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. A petition requesting the installation of a Sanitary Sewer on South 13th and loth Streets and South "0" Street, from South 0 Street to the Intercepting Sewer was referred to the City Engineer for study and recommendations. A petition for the installation of a Sanitary Sewer on South 3rd Street, from South "N" Street to South "L" Street was referred to the City Engineer for study and recommendations. The Fire Chief and Building Inspector were ordered to make a study of the need of extending the Fire Limits of the City and make re- commendations that are to be included to amend the Building Code that include the Chapter that pertains to the Fire Limits. A group of persons living on South 16th below South "L" Street appeared before the board requesting the installation of water mains and fire hydrants for adequate fire protection of this area. The Fire Chief and City Engineer having made an inspection of this territory recommended that the mains and fire hydrants be installed. On these recommendations the board recommened the installation of water mains and fire hydrants be made to the Water Works and they install as they see fit to serve this purpose. A petition signed by property owner in the Hillman' s Addition in the 700 Block on Southwest 1st Street requesting a fire hydrants in said addition was approved by the board. The Clerk was ordered to write Mr. Paul Garrison, Supt. of the Rich- mond City School' s and request his presence at the next board meet- ing to discuss the parking of cars during the athletic events which in the past have been a hazard to the safety of people living in the Senior High School area. The board requested the City Engineer to get the estimated costs of installing traffic light at the intersection of Northwest 18th Street and Peacock Road. The Board authorized 'the Clerk to send the following letter as re- gistered mail and return receipt: 46 . Mr. Paul Davis 2215 Madison Street Muncie, Indiana. Dear Sir: You are hereby notified to appear before the Board of Public Works and Safety, in the City Hall, at Richmond, Indiana, on Friday September 4, 1953, at 9:00 o' clock A.M. (CST) and show cause why the order of the Building Inspector of Richmond relative to the building owned by you at the southwest corner of 5th and Main Street should not be complied with. By City Clerk The Board unanimously. adopted Improvement Resolution No. 970-1953, to improve both sides of South "L1' Street, from South 13th to South 16th Street by construction of concrete curb, gutter and sidewalk on both sides thereof in accordance with the profile , details, drawings and specifications on file in the office of this board. The Board unanimously confirmed the Assessment Rolls on Improvement Resolutions Numbers 956-1952, 960-1952 and 962-1952 as adopted. Claims in the amount of 9,663.04 were allowed.
