The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, July 24, 1953, at the hour. of 9:00 o' clock A.M. ( CDST) . Mr. Colemand presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin. Mr. Haworth being absent. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. Mr. Russell Robbins appeared before the board to explain the he had been in conference with the postal officials about the vacation of the first alley south of and parallel with North "A" Street. The board ad- vised that they would take the proper steps to legally vacate the alley when a petition had been presented signed by property owners abutting said alley. Mr. Campbell appeared before the board and reported the unhealthy condi- tion that is existing due to the open ditch .near 505 and 507 South Q Street. Mr. Hodgin explained the reasons for this condition and re • - commended that he make a drawing of what coulc be done to eliminate this condition for the board' s consideration. The request for a fire hydrant in the 2nd Addition of Raviiaia Park was referred to the City Engineer to contact the Water Company as just where the location of the hydrant should. . be. The board took under advisement the "No Parking" on both sides of East Main Street, from East 23rd Street to the east City Limits as presented by Captain Juerling. The board authorized the Clerk to contact the Indiana Railroad for a meeting to go over the possibilities of "One-Way" Streets on 12th and 13th Streets. The board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 967-1953 to improve the alley between West .Main Street and Kinsey Street, from Northwest 3rd Street to Northwest 5th Street, by construction of ' a concrete roadway the full width of said alley in accordance with the profile , details, drawings, and specifications on file in the office of The Board of Public Works and Safety, The Board allowed the claims in the amount of i36,515. 13.
