The Board. of Public Works a nd Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the city Hall in said City, Friday, June -12, 1953, at the hour of 9:00 o° clock a.m. ( cdst) . Mr. Coleman presiding with the following memmber being present: Mr. Hodgin. Mr. Haworth being absent. The , following business was had, to-wtt: On motion duly made seconded and carried, the minutes of the pre- viou meeting were dispensed with. On recommendation of the Chief of Police, the board unanimously approved the appointment of Charles Moses Givens as probationary patrolman as of June 16, 1953. Mr. Husson. owner of the property located at East 13th and Main Streets appeared before the boa rd to discuss the complaints that the tenants were burning trash along 13th Street and causing a nuisance to the neighbors. Mr. Ho'gin advised the board that the Sa nitary Commission was trying to work out something that should eliminate this nuisance. On recommendation of the City Engineer, the board rejected the petition to close the second alley north of National Road that runs east and west to the north and south alley between S.W. 15th and S.W. 16th Streets. On recommendation of the Fire Chief the board- approved the extension of a six (6) inch water main from South 13th and P Street, south to the intersection of South 13th and Q Street and the installation of a fire hydrant, thence east on South Q Street approx. 500 feet and the installation of a fire hydrant to serve as fire proptectiob in this area. On recoomendation of the Fire Chief, the board approved the ex- tension of a six (6) inch water main on South 10th Street, south from South M Street to South 0 S reet and the installation of fire hydrant atLthe inter•section'-of what should be N Street to serve as fire protection in this area. The Clerk presented proofs of publication printed in the Pallad- ium-Ite m, a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Richmond, Indiana, that sealed bids would be received on this day at and until the hour of 9:00 & clock a.m ( cst) for furnish- ing One (1) new Servicar for the Police Department. The proofs were ordered filed.. 331 The following bids were opened and read aloud: II Wright Motorcycle Sales, Richmond, Indiana One (1) 3 wheel Motorcycle (new) .1, 268.50 Less trade-in on 1949 300. 00 Net P 968.50 Langston' s Motorcycle Shop, Connersville, India na One (1) 3 wheel motorcycle (new) 31, 267.40 Less trade-in on 1949 L00.00 Net 867. 40 4a,"1 The Appraisor' s value on the 1949 trade-in Servicar was $150.00 LreJ The Chief of Police and Chief Mechanic tabulated the bids and recommended the bid of the Langston' s be accepted. On motion ,-� duly made, seconded and carried the board approved the acceptance of the Langston' s bid as presented. The Clerk was instructed to write a letter to Mr. William Garrett owner of Lot #2 in the Bullerdick' s Addition (Ross Street) and request that he have the house trailer removed from said premises which is causing a nuisance and unsanitary conditions as was set-out in a petition signed by several people in the neighborhood.
