II The Boa.rd. of Public Works and - Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in 'regular session in its office" in the City Hall in said City, Friday, May '15 , 1953, at the hour of 9: 00 o' clock A.M. (CDST) . Mr. Coleman presiding with the following •members being present: Mr. Hodgin, and Mr. Haworth.. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. Mrs. A. Yoder and Mrs. W. Elliott appeared before the Board requesting a water line be installed in the Edgemont Addition. The City Engineer advised the Board that this area was outside of the City Limits. These people were advised to contact Mr. Shoemaker of the Water Works for assistance. Councilman Law appeared before the Board and requested that some gravel be spread in the low spots in the first alley south of National Road - between S.W. 1st and 2nd Streets. This was referred to the Street Commissioner. Mr. Law also brought to the attention of the Board the nuisance that the Kroger Store at East 13th and Main Streets is causing by the burning of large quantities of trash, Mr. Hodgin stated that he would contact the manager of this store and see; what could be worked out to remedy this condition. On recommendation of the Chief of Police the Board unanimously approved the appointment of Lawrence A. Miller, Jr. as probationary patrolman starting May 18, '1953. On recommendation of Captain Juerling the Board approved the install- ation of "No Parking" signs on both sides of S.W. 1st from S.W. D to S.W. E Streets. • The Board approved 'a request to cut the curb in front of 425 South 16th Street for a private driveway. • A petition was received requesting a resolution for the construction of concrete curb and gutter on both sides of N.W. 3rd Street, from Lincoln to Randolph Street. This was referred to the City Engineer to prepare a resolution for said work. Claims in the amount of 15, 661,68 were allowed.
