The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, March 20, 1953, at the hour of 9:00 o' clock A.M. (CST) . Mr. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin and Mr. Haworth. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. - The complaint of large trucks parking lengthy periods of time day and night on National Road West between West 15th and 16th Streets was re- ferred to the Police Department. George Borton of the Commons Lumber Company appeared before the Board requesting additional water mains and fire hydrants between South "E" and AG" Streets on South 20th Street and also on Southeast Parkway in the vicinity of the new Charles School. The Board authorized the Clerk to notify the Water Works that these were approved by the Board on re- commendation of the Fire Chief. The Board unanimously approved the installation of a street light at the intersection of South 6th and "N" Streets as approved by the Light Plant Committee. The Board approved the painting of the curbs at South 5th and "E" Streets back about 50 feet from the intersection. Mr. Law' s report of Northwest "K" Street between Ridge and Harris Streets being too narrow on both sides of said street for parking was referred to Capt. Juerling for investigation. Capt. Juerling was also advised that the residents on North 22nd Street requested "No Trucks Allowed" signs be installed. The Clerk presented proofs of- publication printed in the Richmond Palladium-Item, a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Richmond, that a public hearing would be held on this date for the following Declaratory Resolutions Numbers 1-1953; 2-1953; 3-1953; - 1953 and 5-1953. The proofs were ordered filed. All persons Present who were interested in said Declaratory Resolutions were heard. The Board now Confirms all of the above Declaratory Resolutions as adopted. The Board authorized the Clerk to prepare the advertising for receiving bids for Street Materials and coal for the various departments of the City. Mr. Burlison advised the Board that the Parking Meters are now installed in the Market House Lot. The claims in the amount of $18, 180. 15.
