HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-03-1952 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY, OCTOBER 3, 1952. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the CityHall in said City, Friday, October 3, 1952, at the hour of 9:00 o" clock A.M. (cst) . Mr. Coleman presiding with the following member being present: Mr. Hodgin. Mr. Chambers was present representing Mr. Haworth. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made seconded and carried the minutes of the previous were dispensed with. On recommendation of the Chief of Police, the board accepted the following: September 27, 1952 Chief of Police Board of Works Gentlemen: Having served on the Richmond Police Department continously since May 22, 1931, I am hereby notifying you and the board of my resignation. This resignation to take effect October 1, 1952. Yours very truly /s/ Richard P. Wambo Richard P. Wambo On recommendation of the Chief of Police, the board approved the curb in front of the North 15th Street gate at I.H. Co. being painted yelldw and a "No Parking" sign at said space. Capt. Juerling recommended making North "C" Street a one-way street to west-bound traffic from North 7th Street to North 16th Street. This was taken under advisement. On recommendation of the City Engineer Mr. Harmon, a trucker, was permitted to dredge the river above the dam under the 20th Century Bridge for gravel to be used for back fill on the new over-pass. It is definitely under- stood that the light plant officials will supervise the dredging. The following correspondence was received from Councilman Robert Law: October 1, 1952. Board of Public Works and Safety City Hall Richmond, Indiana Gentlemen: There is a strip along the West side of S.W. lst Street, from S.W. E to G which was left untreated, and has become very dusty. Incidentally, there is a large hole in the street at the intersection of S.W. F and 1st. . 2.69 The folks along. S.W. 1st asked that these condition be brought to your attention. II Thank you ! '-' City Hall Richmond, Indiana Gentlemen: It has been reported to me by several residents on Kinsey Street, that trailer trucks are using this street as a short-cut in order to circum- vent the traffic light at the intersection of W.Main and 5th. The street is narrow to begin with, and the trailers are breaking the limbs from the over-hanging trees. III have investigated this situation, and suggest a "no trucks allowed" sign to be placed at the entrance of Kinsey at N.W. 5th Street. Thank you ! Yours very truly, /s/ Robert C. Law Robert C. On recommendation of the City Engineer the board unanimously adopted Declaratory Resolution No, 12-1952 as follows, to-wit: DECLARATORY RESOLUTION NO. 12-1952. RESOLVED, by the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana that it is desired and deemed necessary to vacate that portion of the alley between South 7th and South 8th Streets from the south line of South "P" Street; now vacated, to. the South line extended east of Lot No. 214 in the Beallview Addition to the City of Richmond, Indiana, which portion of alley proposed to be vacated is more II particularly described as follows: Beginning at the Northeast corner of Lot No. 214 in the Beallview Addition to the City of. Richmond, Indiana and running thence South, along the east line of said Lot No. 214 to the Southeast corner thereof, thence east, along the South line, extended east, of said Lot No. 214 to the southwest corner of Lot No. 159 in said Beallview Addition, thence North along the West line of said Lot No. 159 to the Northwest corner thereof, thence West along the South line of South "P" Street, now vacated, to the place of beginning. The property in said City of Richmond, Indiana which may be in- juriously or beneficially affected by said proposed vacation is known and d described as the portion of alley herein proposed to be vacated and the lots abutting on both sides thereof, namely, Lots Nos. 214 and 159 in the Beallview Addition to the City of Richmond, Indiana both of said lots being owned by Automotive Gear Works, Inc.
