Adams, Manager of the Indma Railroad reported the following in a letter to the board: Richmond, Indiana September 12, 1952 Mr. Ather J. Reeg • City Clerk Richmond, Indiana 26 Dear Mr. Reeg: -In reply to your letter of August 20, 1952, regarding the petition for extension of bus service in the area of South 12th and "0" Street, we find that we are not in a position to extend our service into this area with our present schedules. To extend- service into this area would require additional equipment and Operators, and our recent surveys have shown that extension into new area' s at present would require the addition of a bus, that would not only be unprofitable, but would fall far short of even paying operating expenses. Recently we had a complete survey of our city and operation, conducted by the Transportation Survey Department of General Motors Corporation. I would be glad to have you check this survey with me any time we can arrange a meeting that would be convient to both of us. . In answer to the reports of our Crosley Busses, being over-crowded, I have a daily report from our operators and personal checks, showing an average load of thirty-nine to forty-six passengers on our thirty-six passenger busses during our peak loads. It is reasonable to believe that all passengers cannot nave a seat during peak hours. I will be glad to have any interested party make a personal check with me of our passengers handled during our peak hours. We appreciate your cooperation concerning these matters and ask that you feel free to contact us any time a similiar problem arrises in the future. /s/ J. S. Adams J. S. Adams Mgr. • CC Frank Marino.
