OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
AND SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA.
THURSDAY, JULY 3, 1952.
IIThe Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City,
Thursday, July 3, 1952, at the hour of 8:00 A.M. (c. s. t. ) . Mr. Coleman
presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin and Mr.
Haworth. The following business was had, to-wit:
On motion duly made, seconded and carried the minutes of the previous
• meeting were dispensed with.
The Board unanimously approved the renewal of the contract for the
.;, accupancy of Civic Hall between the School City and Civil City for the
year 1953.

A petition was presented signed by property owners requesting construction
of a concrete alley between South l4th and 15th Streets, from South "D"
to "E" Street.
The City Engineer presented an Improvement Resolution and recommend the
adoption. The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 956-
1952 as follows:
IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION
NO. 956-1952
llRESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF
RICHMOND, INDIANA, That it is deemed necessary to improve the alley be-
tween South l4th and South 15th Street, from South "D" to South "E"
Streets, by construction of a concrete roadway the full width of said
alley in accordance with the profile, details, drawings, and specifica-
tions on file in the office of the Board of Public Works and Safety of
said City; and such improvement is now ordered.
The cost of said improvement shall be assessed upon the real estate
abutting on said Alley Improvement and on property abutting on the
streets or alleys intereetcting the alley proposed to be improved, and
on property within 150 feet of the line of the alley to be improved, and
upon the City of Richmond, Indiana, if said City if benefitted by said
improvement, all according to the method and manner proveided for in Act
of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, entitled "An Act con-
cerning Municipal Corporation" , approved March 6, 1905, and in accordance
with the pursuant to all amendatory and supplemental acts, thereto,
passed by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, Assessments, if
deferred, are to be paid in ten equal installments, with interest at the
rate of six per cent (6%) per annum. A bond shall be issued to the con-
. tractor in payment of such work, unless the property owners pay said
assessments before said bonds are issued. Under no circumstances shall
the City of Richmond, Indiana, be, or be held, responsible for any sum
or sums, due from said property owner or owners from said work, or for
the collection of the same, or for the payment of any bond, bonds, certi-
ficates, issued to said contractor in payment for such work, except for
moneys as shall have been actually received by the City from the assess-
ments, or moneys as said City is by said above entitled Act required to
pay. All proceedings had, and work done i•n the making of said bonds
therefore, shall be as provided for in above entitled act and amendments
thereto.

The Board approved the Clerk of preparing a Resolution for Counciles
consideration to appoint appraisers to appraise one 1950 Chevrolet Coach
to be traded in by .the Police Department for a new one,
The Board allowed the claims in the sum of $56,087.39•
There being no furtherbusiness presented on motion duly made, seconded
and carried the meeting adjourned,
