OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND
SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA, MAY 16, 1952
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
•
met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City,
Friday, May 16, 1952, at the hour of 8:00 A.M. (c. s, t. ) . Mr. Coleman
presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin and Mr.
Haworth. The following business was had, to-wit:
On motion duly made, seconded and carried the minutes of the previous
meeting were dispensed with.
On recommendation of the City Engineer the Board approved the request
of a 15 minute parking area the entire width of the lot located at
.N 700 South 7th Street.

, .." On recommendation of Capt . Juerling the Board gave permission to the
; ; Richmond Laundry on South "H" Street, between South 7th and South 8th
Streets to install a "factory" curb.
On recommendation of Capt. Juerling the Board approved a space in front
of 400 North 19th Street for a bus stop.
• The Trustees of the F.O.E. Lodge appeared before the board requesting
that the proposed transformer vaults not be installed in front of said
Lodge. It was brought out that in the near future the space under the
sidewalk would beWneeded for the construction of bowling alleys. This
group was advised to see Mr. Beck to see what could be worked out for
the benefit of all concerned.
A petition Was received for the construction of concrete curb and gutter
on the north side of West Main Street, between N.W. lath and N.W. 15th
Streets, it being understood that •the cost of such improvement will be
assessed against the owners of abutting real estate.
The Clerk presented proofs of publication printed in the Richmond
Palladium-Item a local newspaper of• general circulation on the 30th day
of April, 1952 and the 7th day of May, 1952, that sealed bids would be
received on this date for the work provided for in Improvement Resolution
#948-1952 and #949-1952. The proofs were received and ordered filed.
The Board meets to received bids for above Improvement Resolution #948-
1952 and #949-1952. The following were received and read alout:
Henry Rodenberg to furnish all material and labor necessary to complete
construction of concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter to be located on
S.W. loth Street, from West;Main to S.W. A Street, according to the plans,
and specifications prepared by S.W. Hodgin, City Engineer, for the sum
of Two Thousand Seven Hundred Forty Seven Dollars ( 2, 7U7.00) .
This being the only bid.:received and within the City Engineers estimate
of Two Thousand Seven Hundred Forty-seven Dollars (,; 2, 747. 00) , the City
II .Engineer recommended that the contract be awarded to Henry Rodenberg.
On motion duly made, :seconded and unanimously carried the contract was
awarded to Henry Rodenberg.

The Clerk presented proofs of publication printed in the Richmond
Palladium-Item, a newspapter of general circulation, on April 30th and
May 7, 1952, that sealed proposals would be received on this date on the
work provided for in Improvement Resolution #949-1952. The proofs were ,•, .
received and ordered filed.
The Board meets to receive and open sealed proposals to do the work as
provided for in Improvement Resolution #949-a1952. The following bid was
received and read aloud:
Henry Rodenberg to furnish all material and labor necessary to complete
the concrete construction of the Alley between Richmond Avenue and
Randolph Street, from N.W. 3rd Street to N.W. 4th Street according to the
plans and specifications prepared by S.W. Hodgin, City Engineer, for the
sum of Two Thousand Seven Hundred Ninety Dollars ( 2, 790.00) . This bid
being the only one received and within the City Engineerse estimate of
Two Thousand Seven Hundred Ninety Dollars ( 2, 790.00) , on recommendation
of the City Engineer a motion was duly made, seconded and carried that
the contract be awarded to Henry Rodenberg.
The Board allowed the claims in the amount of 22, 142. 36.
There being no further business presented on motion duly made, seconded
and carried the meeting adjourned.
