( c. d. s. t. ) . Mr. H.G. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. S.W. Hodgin and Mr. C.M. Haworth. The following business was had, to—wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. The following report was given by the Street Commissioner for the paving of the following streets with "black top" material. �`Y Richmond Avenue 0_0, 080.00 "':' • North D Street 2, 030. 00 --` South 8th Street Main to End 10, 360. 00 :17. . North 8th Street Main to "E" 5, 687.50 North "C" Street 735.00 Total 28, 892.50 On recommendation of Capt. Juerling the board approved making North 19th Street from Main to North "E" Street one—way for northbound traffic and North 18th Street from Main to E Street for southbound traffic. This to go into effect when the signs are received for installation. The following letter was received and read aloud: IIBoard of Public Works & Safety Richmond, Indiana Re: Conversion of Market House property into off street parking lot.. Gentlemen: • In response to the request of the Common Council on April 21, 1952, the City, Plan Commission on April 25, 1952 passed, unanimously, the following motion, "That the Plan Commission recommend to the Board - of Public Works & Safety the immediate conversion of the west half of the Market House property, fronting on South "A" Street, between South 5th and South 6th Streets , to off street parking, with parking meters: that such use be extended over the entire Market House property at the expiration of the present lease for Market House Building; that plans and estimates for the entire conversion be prepared by the City Civil Engineer, and that the City Plan Commission concurr with the Board of Public Works and Safety in recommendations for said conversion, to Common Council. " This letter serves to convey to you the recommendations of 'the City Plan Commission as referred to above. Deuker, Secretary • 1 A The Board concurred in the recommendation and ordered a resolution to be prepared for action by this board as the next step as outlined in the proceedure of off-street parking. The City Engineer presented plans and estimates to do the work.' The Board approved the request of the light plant to place transformer vaults in the sidewalk in the following locations: South 6th Street near Elks Club South 7th Street near Eagles Lodge North 7th Street near Browns Parking Lot North 8th Street near People' s Saving Association North 9th Street between Express Office & Nicholsons South 9th Street front Montgomery Ward' s South A Street between 8th & 9th Streets east of alley Mr. Hodgin reported. that the Pennsylvania Railroad was preparing to repair the North 8th Street crossing and said crossing would be blocked off for a few days. The Board approved the Red Cross Blood unit of parking on North 7th Street east of the 1st National Bank May 10th, and once a month thereafter. Fire Chief Williams reported that he had a very informative program outlined to him at the Arson School and would instruct all of the Fire Department on arson immediately. The Clerk presented proofs of _publication Printed in the Richmond Palladium-Item, a newspaper of general circulation in said City, printed on April 7th and l4th, 1952, that a public hearing would be held on Declaratory Resolution No. 6-1952, and not remonstrances were filed or received. The board now confirms Declaratory Resolution No. 6-1952 as adopted. The Board allowed the curb cut at 4.18 N.W. 8th Street. The Board allowed the claims in the amount of 14,828. 76.
