Mr. Coleman pre- siding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin and Mr. Haworth. The, following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made seconded and carried the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. Mr. Russell Common, of the Commons Lumber Company, appeared before the board expressing a desire to buy or lease the ground at the west end of the 20th Century Bridge, orginially belonging to the Standard Oil Company of Indiana. The board requested the City Engineer to investigate and recommend his findings.. The Optimist Club request to hold the Opti-Derby on North E Street from 20th Street to Glen Park on the 20th day of July, 1952 , was approved. Councilman Law- appeared before the board requesting some gravel be placed in the alley in rear of 424 S.W. 3rd Street. The Street Commis- sioner advised that he would take care of this immediately. On recommendation of Capt. Juerling the board approved "No Parking" on the south side of South "H" Street, from South 6th Street to the C & 0 Railroad crossing. IIThe Board granted permission to the Post Office at North 9th and "A" Street to place a "drop box" on North -"A" Street at the intersection of the alley west thereof. The Board approved the request to cut the curb at 116 Lincoln Street. On recommendation of the City Engineer the board adopted the following Improvement Resoltuion No. 950-1952. IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 950=1952 RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, That it is deemed necessary to improve 'the alley between South 6th and South 7th Street, from South "C". to South "E" Streets, by construction of a concrete roadway the full width of said alley in accordance with the profile , details, drawings and specifications on file in the office of the Board of Public Works and Safety of the said City; and such improvement is now ordered. The cost of said improvement shall be assessed upon the real . estate abutting on said Alley Improvement and on property abutting on the streets or alleys intersecting the alley proposed to be improved, and on property within 150 feet of the line of the alley to be improved, and upon the City of Richmond, Indiana, if said City is benefitted by IIsaid improvement, all according to the method and manner provided for in Act of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, entitled "An Act Concerning Municipal Corporation", approved March 6, 1905, and in -'' accordance with the pursuant to all amendatory and supplemental acts, thereto, passed by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana. 2 -00 Assessments, if deferred, are to be paid in ten equal installments, with interest at the rate of six per cent (6%) per annum. A bond shall be issued to the contractor in payment of such work, unless the property owners pay said assessments before said bonds are issued. Under no circumstances shall the City of Richmond, Indiana, be, ore be held, responsible for any sum or sums, due from said property owner or owners from said work, or for the collection of the same, or for the payment of any bond, bonds, certificates, issued to said contractor in payment for such work, except for moneys as shall have been actually received by the the City from the assessments, or moneys as said City is by said above entitled Act required to bay. All proceedings had, and work done in the making of said improvement, assessment of property, collection of assess- ments and issuance of bonds therefore, shall be as provided for in above entitled Act and amendments thereto. IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 951-1952 RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, That it is deemed necessary to improve the alley between Richmond Avenue and Randolph Street, from Northwest 4th to Northwest 5th Streets, by construction of a concrete roadway the full width of said alley in accordance with the profile, details, drawings and specifications on file in the office of the Board of Public Works and Safety of said City; and such improvement is now ordered. ReeE Clerk of the Board The Clerk presented proofs of publication of the notice of .a public hearing on Improvement Resolution No. 948-1952 as was adopted by the Board o,Works on 28th day of March, 1952, showing said notice had been published at least ten (10) days prior to this date. On motion duly made, seconded and carried the proofs were ordered received and filed. After hearing all persons interested in the question and no remonstrances being filed or presented, the board unanimously confirmed Improvement Resolution No. 948-1952 as adopted. II The Clerk presented proofs of publication of the notice of a public hearing on Improvement Resolution No. 949-1952 as adopted on the 28th day of March, 1952, showing said notice had been published at least ten (10) days prior to this date. On motion duly made, seconded and carried the proofs were• ordered received and filed. After hearing all persons interested in the question and no remonstrances being filed or presented, the board unanimously confirmed Improvement Resolution No. 949-1952 as adopted. The Clerk was authorized to prepare the advertising for a car load of cement for. use for the several departments. The Board allowed the claims in the amount of $1, 007.05.
